Expert Solution
Step 1

Phylum Mollusca is known to be the second-most diverse diverse phylum of the animal kingdom. The term 'Mollusca' refers to a soft-bodied organism, consisting of three parts - visceral mass, mantle and muscular foot. Their members are usually found in marine as well as terrestrial habitats.

Step 2

The muscular foot of mollusc is generally used for anchorage and locomotion. It can extend as well as retract. The visceral mass of their members include nervous, digestive, reproductive, excretory and respiratory system, as well. They also possess a structure similar to tongue containing teeth-like projections, known as Radula. It serves to scrape or shred food.

The dorsal epidermis in molluscs is known as Mantle. In some of the members, it secretes a hard chitinous calcareous shell.
