Many managers look for indications about how someone behaves outside of an interview and testing context. For example, if a candidate shows up late, is dressed in a sloppy way, or fails to send a thank-you note, the manager may no longer consider that person for the position. Do you think this is a valid predictor of performance? Should managers use information like this in making a hiring decision?

Expert Solution
Step 1

A lot of factors affect influence the interviewer to hire a candidate one of them is the first impression that the candidate makes. The first impression influence the decisions of the interviewer say for example the interviewee is dressed well, tidy and has great charisma which kind of creates a positive opinion to the interviewer. However bad first impressions do affect the decisions the employer makes. Showing up late to the interview might be a bad first impression to the interviewer. The interviewer may predict that he might always turn up late and has no value or respect for timelines which is a bad characteristic for an employee. However, there might be several factors that might have affected the client to turn up late.
