Answer the unknowns
Mark two points on the ground and call this as BM1 and BM2. Assume the elevation of BM1 is given
and the elevation of BM2 to be determined.
Set up the level or theodolite at a convenient location 100 meters from BM1 and take and record
the B.S. of BM1.
Select two turning points near each other, one low and the other high about the same distance from
the level or theodolite. Designate the low turning point as TP1L and the high turning point as TP1H.
Take and record two F.S., one from low TP (or TP1L) and other from high T.P. (TP1H).
Transfer the instrument midway between TP1 (low and high) and the following selected TP2.
Take and record the B.S. of the TPIL first followed by TP1H.
Revolve the instrument in the direction of TP2 and take record the F.S. of TP and TP2H.
Follow the same procedure until BM2 is reached. Take and record the F.S. of BM2. Only single F.S.
at BM2 must be taken.
