Expert Solution
Step 1
Cartilage is a strong connective tissue. The cells of cartilage i.e. chondrocytes are located in lacunae which are surrounded by extracellular matrix. This extracellular matrix is composed of collagen and elastic fibers embedded in a gelatinous ground substance. On the basis of types of extracellular matrix, the three types of cartilages are hyaline cartilage, elastic cartilage, and fibrocartilage.
