Question

What are the different types of movement exhibited by the cells of human body?

Expert Solution
Step 1

1.Amoeboid or pseudo podial movements.

By streaming of cytoplasm the cell surfuce forms pseudo podia. This formation of new pseudopodium and withdrawal of old pesudopodium allows the cell to change its shape regularly. This kind of movements are seen in WBC and macrophages which do not posses a fixed shape and play an important role in the defense mechanism of the body.

2.Ciliary movements.

The free surfuce of some cells posess short hair like projections called cilia The movement of these projections is called ciliary movement. The tubular structures of human body like respiratory tracts, reproductive tracts(ssperms and ova) exhibit this kind of movements.
