Question

What are transforming principle?

Expert Solution
Step 1

DNA consists of chemical building blocks which are called nucleotides. Such building blocks are composed of three parts: a group of phosphates, a group of sugars and one of four nitrogen bases. Nucleotides are joined into chains to form a strand of DNA, alternating the phosphate and the sugar groups.

Oswald Avery, Colin MacLeod and Maclyn McCarty have shown that DNA (not proteins) is capable of transforming cell properties, clarifying the chemical nature of genes.
