Interpersonal communication is described as the sharing of one's feelings or thoughts with another person by means of verbal or non verbal communication. It is usually done face to face through voice, facial expressions, body language etc.
The following are the elements of interpersonal relationship:
The communicators: Communication is usually thought as an one way process in which a person sends message and the other person receives it by actually it is a two way interactive process in which the sender is sending and receiving messages simulataneously.
The message: Communication does not happen only through voice but non verbal communications through body language, facial expressions, gestures etc can also play a part.
Noise: Any disturbance that distorts the message received by the receiver is considered as noise, it need not be only physical but can be in the form of inattention, disinterest, inappropriate body language etc.
Feedback: Feedback allows the sender of the message to understand how well it has been received by the receiver. Feedbacks can be given through direct verbal communications or through facial expressions or change in postures etc.
Context: Apart from the situational context of where the communication takes place, social context must also be considered like the roles and responsibilities of the participants.
Channel: It refers to the physical means by which a message is sent and received. In case of face to face interaction the channel is speech and vision while a telephonic conversation has only speech as its channel.
