Tachycardia is a common type of heart rhythm disorder (tachyarrhythmia) in which the heart beats faster than normal while at rest. Generally, a resting heart rate over 100 beats per minute is designated to be tachycardia in adults. It\'s normal for the heart rate to rise during exercise or during other physiological response to stress, trauma or illness. But in tachycardia, the heart beats faster than normal in the upper or lower chambers of the heart or both while at rest.
