Tissue weighting factor is a measure of risk of deterministic effects or stochastic health risk which may occur from irradiation of that particular tissues.It indicates various radiosensitivities of organ and tissues in body.
For calculation of effective dose, individual organ equivalent dose values are multiplied with the respective tissue weighting factor and products added.
Sum of effective doses to all organs and tissues of body indicates the effective dose for the entire body.
