Certain patients (and their family members) may be covered by dental plans that pay for all or a part of specific services they require. For taxation purposes, it is necessary to track the yearly expenses incurred by each patient at each office as well as the amount paid under any insurance plans. For serious cases, the dentists also maintain a list of specialists in various areas to whom they may refer patients.
