Three Types of Relationship:

The three types of relationship that exist are one-to-one (1:1), one-to-many (1:M), and many-to-many (M:N).

One-to-One:

  • A mapping “R” from “X” to “Y” is one-to-one if each entity in “X” is associated with at most one entity in “Y” and vice-versa.
  • For example, in a school database, each student has only one student ID, and each student ID is assigned to only one person.
  • In a relationship graph, a one-to-one relationship looks like as follows.

One-to-Many:
