Introduction: Koch contributions were mostly in the field of disease-causing microbes. He was the first to demonstrate that bacteria are responsible for causing infectious diseases. He gave Koch’s postulates that helped in the identification of various disease-causing agents.

Explanation of Solution

Robert Koch, a German scientist gave four postulates or criteria to identify the cause of an infection or disease. These postulates are important because they are used to identify the association between disease and its causative agent. Koch proposed that in order to determine the cause of a specific disease following four criteria must be met:

1. The pathogen or causative agent must be found in the individuals suffering from the disease.

2. Pathogens must be isolated from the diseased host and grown in pure culture...
