The American National Standards Institute (ANSI):

ANSI founded in 1918, helps to establish and manage standards in United States. It was founded by three government organizations and by five engineering societies. It is not a profit organization, even though supported by several private and public organizations. The institute of American National Standards, does not develop the standards on its own, rather than gets help from the qualified groups like several engineering organizations. These organizations will set standards and techniques to be followed by ANSI. Today, the ANSI characterizes interests of over a thousand company’s along with other members and 13,000 approved ANSI standards are in use, still more standards are developed.

The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM):

American Society for Testing and Materials established in 1898 is an International organization that publishes and progresses technical standards for a wide-range of materials, services, products, and systems. It provides technical guidelines for a product safety, uniformity, and reliability. ASTM also publishes technical information about sampling and testing procedures for health, performance of materials and its safety, and effects of chemical, physical, and biological agents. The testing method made by its own national and international laboratory members, that is fatigue testing, impact testing, flexure testing, determines elastic property of materials, residual stress, bend and flexure testing, etc...
