What are JAD and RAD, and how do they differ from traditional fat-finding methods? What are main advantages of team-based methods?

Program Plan Intro

Description of JAD and RAD and how they differ from traditional fact-finding methods and advantages of team-based methods.

Program Explanation

JAD produces requirement model and RAD produces functional information system. Joint Application Development (JAD) is a team-based development process which involves continuous interaction between different members of team. A team consists of users, facilitators, designers, developers, observers, mediators and subject matter experts.

JAD session starts with defining project goals and objectives, identification of business and functional requirements. The main questions which is asked is “what needs to be done’, why? which is then proceeded by actual project development in day-to-day operations. JAD sessions are often conducted over a period say weekly, biweekly or monthly in order to analyze the system developed and what more needs to be done in order to meet business requirements, which helps in minimizing errors and increasing speed of development process.

JAD is user-oriented approach which is different from traditional SDLC model which involves users only for getting input and output checked.

Rapid Application Development (RAD) is a team-based agile development process which speeds up development of system and gives output as functional information system...
