Identify and briefly describe three types of telecommunications channels.

Program Plan Intro

Telecommunication medium:

  • Telecommunication medium is the interchange of data over significant distances by electronic devices which refer to data, video, and voice transmission.
  • It includes a wide range of data transmitting technologies, such as microwave communications, satellites, telephones, radio and television broadcasting, telegraphs and internets.
  • One advantage of telecommunications technology is to allow the user to communicate quickly with business clients, partners, and co-employees almost anywhere in the world.
  • It reduces the amount of time needed to transmit data that can drive and conclude business actions.

Explanation of Solution

Three types of telecommunication channels:

  • Simplex channel
  • Half-duplex channel
  • Full-duplex channel

Simplex channel:

  • A simplex communications channel that can transmit data in only one direction, this means data can be sent in that direction, but the same data can’t be received in return.
  • The data that is sent to the receiver can utilize transfers at maximum capacity since it only has one direction to go.

Half-duplex channel:

  • A half-duplex channel means that data can be transmitted in both the directions on a single carrier except not concurrently...
