Then 13 years down the line he published 3 of his greatest works The Pit And The Pendulum, masquerade of red death, the mystery of marie roget. Poe was an american writer, poet, and editor. He was best known for his dark short stories. He is the reason, well at least part of the reason the birth of the modern detective story.
