While the events leading up to the shootings are unclear, they ended with the Parachute Regiment opening fire on a group of protestors. 13 people were killed, with many others sustaining injuries. While it is still not known what motivated the Parachute Regiment to fire into the crowd, there are many theories and ideas, many of which still make Bloody Sunday relevant
