In the book Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, I think that the theme is Never give up. A character that I believe shows and displays these characteristics throughout the book is Papa also known as David Logan. One of his character traits that I believe drives the theme is his determination. Papa faces many challenges throughout the book. Some of the challenges took more time to recover from than others. These challenges brought out the determination in Mr.Logan, making him want to work harder to succeed
