After my freshman year, I felt that I learned enough about college to set realistic goals for myself. Unfortunately, I was wrong. One of my goals over the past school year was to obtain a 4.0. I thought I would be able to obtain a 4.0 over these past 2 semesters but did not reach my goal. During the first semester of this school year, I earned a 3.75. I was disappointed that I did not reach my goal of earning a 4.0. However, I believe that I did better this year in comparison to the year before since I actively studied more often and gave myself ample time to learn. Another goal I had this year was to be on track to declare as a business major. As for my second goal, I feel pretty successful in reaching the goal. During this past school year, I had various obstacles that I had to overcome in order to properly learn and grow. One of the most impacting obstacles that I had to overcome was my father’s death. Unfortunately, my father passed away during …show more content…
Instead, one of my goals for this upcoming year is to simply achieve a higher cumulative GPA. I believe that as long as you keep learning and growing, you are doing well. I plan on achieving this goal by setting aside time to sufficiently study and prepare for exams/important assignments in order to get the best grade possible. By the end of next year, I hope to successfully have declared into the business major. This scholarship has offered me a tremendous amount of assistance over the past year. The death of my father was not easy on my family. Not only did I lose my father, I lost the backbone to my family who was financially caring for my family. To lessen the burden on my mother, I was able to use some of the funds from the scholarship to tackle some financial complications during the year. As this scholarship assists with the financial portion of my college career, I was able to focus on my education and
Being a freshman in college, I set impractical and unrealistic goals for myself. Throughout the year, I had to overcome various obstacles to strive in meeting the goals I had set out for myself. One of my goals during the first year of college was to earn a 4.0 GPA. I thought this would be an easy feat as I was able to academically grow throughout my academic career—excelling from being roughly a 2.6 GPA student to roughly a 4.0 GPA student. One of the biggest obstacles I had to face was taking exams. In high school, I did not need to prepare for exams as much as I do in college. I underestimated my midterms and finals as I did not know that I had to study at least a week ahead of time in order to obtain suitable grades. In high school, I was able to study one or two nights beforehand and still manage to achieve high grades.
I hope my honesty about my academic journey demonstrates that I am a worthy recipient of your scholarship because I have learned success comes from hard work and learning from failure. I greatly appreciate your consideration. Please know that this scholarship will make a positive impact on my academic career and will be greatly appreciated. I can assure you that I will be a dedicated professional that you will be proud you invested
What support systems will you incorporate into your plan that will help you achieve your goals?
I, Charday Williams, am one of the recipients of the Dr. Ruth M. Cady & Dr. Dorothy Husky Health Science Endowment Scholarship and I truly owe a great amount of appreciation to you both. These past few weeks have been extremely difficult for me when it comes to my schooling. I was accepted to the nursing program yet unsure of how I was going to pay for my schooling. Being that I am working toward my second bachelor’s degree it is relatively hard to get financial aid whether by means of loans, scholarships or grants. With this being said, I was afraid that I might have hit a bump in the road that I may not overcome. This scholarship or might I say blessing has lifted a great amount of stress off me. It has provided me with exactly what I needed
“Yes! One goal down four more to go!” It was the fall of 2013 at the soccer fields behind my middle school. I had just scored my first goal in the first soccer game of the year. My goal was to score five goals in a single soccer game, but I had not achieved that yet.
I would like to thank you again for your generosity and support. This scholarship make me feel everything I had done to be here its worthy, and I hope to accomplish
I am extremely grateful for you granting me with the John and Louise Steiger Student Foundation Scholarship! This scholarship was nothing less than an answer to my prayers. The last couple of years here at Oklahoma Baptist University I have been struggling with providing financially. Every semester I had to constantly pray and seek The Lord to make sure that He wanted me to continue my education here. While being here at Oklahoma Baptist University I have grown so much not only academically, but also spiritually. I have learned that my provider is not my job, that my provider is not my grades, my parents, or even a scholarship. The true provider is The Lord and if we lean into full Him, He will gives us all that we need according to His plans.
My main goals for my first semester at Western include intellectual, emotional, physical and social-civic goals. My main intellectual goal is to get good grades in all my classes so my GPA can be above a C+ average. This goal is very important to me because I am in the pre-nursing program and in order to even have a chance to move on my junior and senior year my GPA must be a C+ or above. I think the first step to making this happen would be attending all of my classes along with taking thorough notes and studying not only alone but in groups as well. Along with my intellectual goal, it is important I have an emotional goal as well. This goal is to keep making sure my stress level never goes too high. I think that it will be the easiest to meet this goal by setting aside time
For as long as I can remember, I always told myself I would go to college. As a senior, I went through all the steps of admitting into a college, or so I thought. I did everything except turn in my mom’s signature to the FAFSA. Getting ready to submit the signature I realized I was not ready to spend $60,000 in a career I wasn't passionate about. Now here I am again 3 years later doing it again, most people would see this as a set back, but I see it more as an opportunity. This time I am prepared to pursue my goal of attending collage and purse a nursing career . I feel that with the opportunity your scholarship will provide I can reach my goals of taking care of others.
As I headed back to school after the August recess, I was in a somber mood. It was my final year in high school and with the certificate of secondary school examinations closing in, I was still uncertain about it. Earlier on, my mother bid me farewell with words of encouragement for the forthcoming exams. She was bed ridden at that time and in my absence there was no one else who would take care of her but my three younger siblings. I contemplated quitting school and staying home for her sake but she adamantly insisted that I go back. She reassured me that all would be well. Unfortunately three weeks later, she passed on, just two months to the start of my examinations. Although inauspicious, these circumstances were pivotal in defining my
My professional goal is to attend a 4 year college in the Mainland to get a Pediatric degree. I chose this as my professional goal because I have personal experience of losing a baby. That made me even more love babies and help the ones in need. This professional goal is important to me because there is some people out there in the world that does not take care of their babies after they give birth or even while they are pregnant. They do not eat healthy or they drink alcohol or, even do drugs that will hurt the baby. It is also important to me because if your baby is born unhealthy or in pain some parents will not care or do anything to help the baby. Seeing babies unhealthy or not being taken care of hits home hard for me. This goal might
Thank you so much for this $2500 scholarship award. I appreciate this award to help me pursue my education. I feel so grateful to know that I have your support.
Money is sadly one of the things that makes the world go round. With it books are bought and an education is paid for. This scholarship award would help pay for a tuition that I have been working hard for. I have had a job for just over a year and have been working thirty hour weeks in order to save up for college. In my family I am expected to pay for my tuition because it is my education. I have been striving to save up because education is one of my top priorities. This award will allow me to spend some of my earnings elsewhere. My financial burden will be lifted slightly and I will be able to relax and enjoy the rest of my senior year.
This year I have definitely set some goals. 1st goal I have set is to end all my classes with a good grade.
Few students have goals in high school, but I do. I plan, so I don't become one of the people who say, "I don't know what to do next," or "Where does one go at this point?" In order for me to get into college, I must have a good GPA (grade point average). One major goal for me to meet in high school is to keep up my grades to an 85 or higher to get to at least a 4.0 GPA and higher. That way I can get into the college I want. In order for my biggest goal to be achieved, I will study before tests and that will boost my grade into where I want it to be. As well as major projects, I will put all my work effort into it to be a perfect grade.
