I heard the clicking of guns as the slaughter temporarily ceased. I knew this was my chance, and so did many others. There were two groups, those who ran like hell, and those who didn’t want to leave the dead behind. Regardless of your group, we were all given mere seconds before the hellfire resumed. I knew this was my only break so I made the most of it. I spotted the house across the street and the cover it could provide. I left my bike on the ground as I ran over to the house quickly, not looking back the entire way. It felt as if my feet weren’t even touching the ground, the second they did they leapt up again in fear, as if the asphalt were lava. I was gravely mistaken in my attempt however. I was merely halfway across the street when …show more content…
We went into the back shed to grab nails and boards for the windows. I tried calling my friends, but the phones were dead. The internet was out and the television couldn’t even get a signal. I noticed a cell tower, one of the more iconic landmarks of our town had been brought down. In its place a makeshift tower had been set up, most likely used to block any signal trying to leave this town. They were cutting us off completely from the outside world. Later that night, my father came downstairs and told me where the guns were hidden. I didn’t sleep last night, and I don’t expect to for a while. I tried reading a book, but I didn’t believe it. It was about a secret agent. After what I saw, no one could be good and perform such a horrendous deed as that. I sat in a chair next to a peep hole in the window the entire night. I saw the sun fall over the distant mountains. Then I saw its rays hit them with the break of morning. It lived to see tomorrow, and so did I. I heard the loud, powerful bang as the staple drove another notice into our door. I looked through the peephole and waited for the men to turn the corner. They were the same men as the day before. Once they turned the corner I quickly opened the door to see what this new letter
The next minute I felt a hand on my shoulder completely pulling me like a ragdoll back into the ditch. I could still hear the agony in the dead soldier’s voice. Then Larry exclaimed, “GET YOURSELF TOGETHER HAYES!” and began to listen to Lt. Arthur on what to do next. They were shooting at us from a small farmhouse to our northeast. All around us was as flat ground so we needed a diversion. Cover fire was ordered and we began to approach a bundle of trees near the farm house. Still recovering from the horror, I just witnessed, I ran for my life to a nearby tree where we were supposed to take cover.
Inside was very dark. There were about 70 people already inside. After my father got in, the door slammed shut. Darkness overcame all of us. All openings were sealed off, and we were only able to breathe from the tiny holes on the side of the cars. We were unable to sit, or there would not be enough room for everyone. So I stood with my father beside me. There was no food or water, but I wasn’t hungry or thirsty. Though, many people did have hunger and thirst. The only thing given to us was a bucket for human waste. There was a loud whistle, we started to move, and we never saw our home again.
The blinding light advanced with terrifying speed. Like a massive wave that would soon overtake him.
Our defeat was bad enough, but this is worse. Octora and her group have us surrounded. We’re prisoners. I can see Octora ahead, talking with another octoling. I know their plans. Take us to their world and use the abilities my friends have to their advantages, forcing as much as they can out of them while keeping me imprisoned somewhere else to do who knows what to, and then destroying this world. I need to stop this, but I can’t. Stopping it would mean facing Octora, the living nightmare. The very thought causes my hands to feel clammy. I can’t. But then suddenly an image flashes through my mind-of Splaterina collapsing from exhaustion, unable to do anything more. Then of Marie. Would she ever see Callie again? And Xavier. He would try to help everyone, but I know they wouldn’t let him. With us
At the beach one afternoon, a starfish washed ashore and became the plaything of a few young children. I could only watch as they poked and prodded it, threw it onto the sand and tried to make it latch onto rocks. I told them it would die, but they only laughed and continued to play with it out in the baking sun. Soon after I was forced to leave, but for the rest of the day I could only think of the starfish and hope it had found a safe spot back in the ocean, protected from the surf.
When I arrived home, nobody was there. The street was still as a statue. I was too scared to even think about what could’ve happened to my parents. I hid in the basement for four and a half hours while I prayed my family was still alive. Sitting there waiting seemed like it lasted an eternity. I was curious what was going on. I walked upstairs only to see the house completely ransacked. I heard nothing though I knew they had been here, but they didn’t find me. I had been able to survive the invasion but my family and the rest of my friends are gone and I am alone.
Several days later, news had spread that the soldiers who tried to shoot me was dead, as he was burnt
He strands on the bridge, looking out at the planet. A planet surrounded by warships from 10,000 worlds, and encased in shields, not to protect it, but to contain what has infected it. He had ordered it hundreds of times now, but this world was different, special. This was his world, his home, and while there has been colony worlds, a few thousand, or a million beings, most were barren worlds, devoid of life, or at least only primitive forms.

Everyone stayed still and no one dared to speak. After what felt like an eternity one of the men told us that an agreement had been reached. “You will be taken by us to egypt in two helicopters. You’ll be split up in two groups. Don,t try doing anything or we will shoot you on the spot.” we were taken to an airport where the lights were out. What are they going to do to us in Egypt? They split us in the two groups and I was separated from Eliezer Are we going to be left for dead? The men escorted us to the helicopters Are we going to rescued? And almost as if on cue, two shots were came from the roof the airport. We're saved! The men that had taken us started to fire back. Soon a free for all had started. All we could do was watch and hope for the best. For some reason I knew that we were going to make out alive. As the fight dragged two of the masked men and one officer had been killed. Suddenly I saw a ball fly through the air and land in the other helicopter. I realized what the ball was and the helicopter exploded. Eliezer! I couldn't believe my eyes. My friend was gone. Just like that. The fight went on for a bit more and one more of the masked men was shot. Another one of the masked men went out of cover and started running. He was running towards us. When he got there he lifted his gun and pointed it at Kehat
I’m starting to get slightly more comfortable on this ship, but it’s still nothing like home. Well, I guess this is home now. I’ve started to make myself fit in here, but I’m not sure how it’s going. Eldest still makes me feel like I’m stuck in a prison though. It’s almost like he’s a Pre-Hitler. He’s made everyone on the ship believe I was a result of some crazy lab mutation and that I am a freak. Now, barely anyone believes a word I say or even looks at me. All except for Elder and Harley. Harley is extremely curious but is a loyal friend. He even volunteered to watch over the people in Cyro sleep to make sure there wasn’t any tampering done to them. Elder, he keeps bringing back memories of Jason, it’s like the two are identical in personality.
“Let our parents go!” Young Lucy shouted to the cruel ruler of the society, Kristoff. Teenage Brooklyn, Lucy’s older sister, was thinking,
Suddenly, a muffled but audible chipping noise rang out from the building, followed with a volley of shrieks and footsteps. Stanley thoughtlessly dashed to the front door, almost ramming it, and began to knock frantically. “Is it alright in there?” Stanley projected through the door. There was a brief stretch of silence, but atlast someone answered:
During the day, today, I was left with one eye to perceive the world around me. It was not as difficult as I thought it would be.
The TV and surveillance equipment in 1984 was always watching and “the instrument… could be dimmed, but there was no way of shutting it off completely” (Orwell 2). Most of the people in both societies are okay with the constant surveillance and manipulation, and for this reason, they also do not mind the case system that is implemented into both societies. In Brave New World, everyone accepts their caste, even the lowest ones. The government tries to make sure that people do not socialize outside of their caste so that another caste doesn’t get jealous and rebel. One woman, a Beta, was happy with her caste because the Deltas and Epsilons “all wear green… [and] khaki” and that “they’re too stupid to be able to read or write” (Huxley 27). She was also happy not to be an Alpha because “they’re so frightfully clever” and because she doesn’t want to “work so hard” (Huxley 27-8). The government has brainwashed everyone to such extremes that even the lowest caste is content at most times. The caste system in 1984 is not as prominent, but there is still a different kind of system in place. The lower class citizens are ‘proles’, and they are completely irrelevant to the Party even though the Party still monitors them. The proles are generally not as intelligent as the other members of society and they are satisfied with any little thing that they can get. The proles greatly resemble Epsilons in the fact that they do not have aspirations or strive for things greater than what they
