Careers and experiences
Success, failures, experiences, trials, and tribulations usually shape up the life and career of a person. I am no exception to this idea. My experiences have taught me lessons. My mistakes have helped me to grow. My successes have humbled me. My fear of the unknown has helped me face life.
I hail from a city called Chennai from the South of India and I grew up in a family rich in traditions and orthodoxy. An age long tradition in India dictates children to decide on a career path as early as sixth grade. Especially in a family of educated people like the one I was brought up in, children are encouraged to think about what they want to become ever since they are toddlers trying to learn the alphabets. Furthermore, it is also customary for elders to ask young children if they are going to follow the footsteps of their father or their mother. In my case, I could not respond saying I wanted to be my own person, travel the world and become a princess. That would have been considered insulting. Therefore, I chose to follow my father’s career- Chartered Accountancy.
Based on my choice, I was put on that career path and took relevant classes from 11th grade. Once I graduated from high school, I immediately enrolled in Chartered Accountancy courses. In order to fulfill an internship requirement, I worked for my father as an Accountancy intern. I dedicatedly explored the field of accounting and tried to learn from my father.
Despite finding numbers and accounts interesting, I realized that I was not passionate about it; it was just not meant for me. Furthermore, my parents were aware of my dislike towards accounting. After days of futile talking and counseling, my father made one last effort to change my mind. He gave me the task of assisting him in conducting the audit of one of his clients. He believed that by giving me more responsibility in the audit of an interesting company, he would succeed in convincing me to continue accounting. Little did he know that his efforts would be in vain.
That audit was of an event management company called M/s Beep Experience Pvt. This company organized various events such as music concerts, weddings, and even corporate meetings. It was during that audit
When I answered the questions on career cruising I found that my results were inaccurate as to the career I am interested in. The first career was mechanical engineer. Environmental engineer is the second on list. The career that I am actually interested in Software development and Computer science I did not get the results I was looking for in my career assessment. I will still look for a career in information technology when I enter the workforce but for now I will look into the jobs the field has to offer. I want to become a software developer and work for good software company, I hope it works out that way in the end. I disagree with the survey results because I do not want to become a engineer in those fields, I feel like being an engineer will be to heavy of a weight on my shoulders. Environmental engineer would not fit me because I am not a environmental type of person.
Everything in life happens for a reason. Every experience, whether it be good or bad, can teach a lesson. We all have to deal with mistakes, tragedies, and failures. Being able to learn from them is an essential principle for personal and professional growth. Our experiences add character to our personalities and mold us into who we are. They can make or break a person. For me, it was both. I believe that the lessons I learned through my mistakes have prepared me in becoming an accurate representation of what it means to be a Price College of Business student.
Almost everyone faces setbacks, failures or something that has consequences that end up helping them. For me, this would be getting the starting spot for football from my competition. I had to work extremely hard to get it. It took so much time, effort, and hard work, but I eventually got it. Getting this starting spot in football has made me the person I am now. This is how it has affected me in life and how it has made the person I am today.
Every person experiences multiple failures, both big and small, in life. At any given point in life, they can point out what they think was their biggest failure. That doesn’t mean their biggest failure helped them make their biggest change. I’m still young so I’m sure I haven’t experienced my biggest regret or failure yet, but one failure made me look at life differently. Although some would view this event as more of an unfortunate accident than anything else, I still consider it a failure on some level.
At the time, I did not realize what all I would have to do to run a farm. There was manual labor involved in running a farm that I was not ready for. That is when my first accounting class in high school got me interested in becoming an accountant. I have now taken Accounting I and am currently in process of taking
2. The researchers conclude that any failures that you have been experienced in life can lead you to the success you do not expect.
I started by retaking the classes that I failed, then I took a college class that would give me college credit and also high school elective credits. I also became treasurer for a club in our school called KIWIN’S.
My entire life I have always worked my hardest to get to where I am today. As a child, I had the dream of being a nurse or a detective, and I as I started getting older I became aware that the two job areas are very different and competitive. I believe my determination has been a key quality that has let me enrich my education and move forward with the health and criminal justice fields. I have been able to succeed in classes, as well as my employment opportunities because when I set my mind to something, there is nothing stopping me, and I am 100% determined to finish. Being hard working has also been something I’ve done throughout my life, I was always been told that things don’t just happen and that I have to make things happen. The ability
Before I entered college, there was only one career path that was carved out for me by my parents and consequently for myself. Being a medical students in a chosen field was my parents dream. When I came to college and started taking
I have learned that sometimes you fail and you want to give up, but you have to be resilient and push forward. I’ve learned how to plan and work with those who are higher up than you. All in all, I have learned the way to be successful with a group of
Everyone experiences multiple failures, both big and small, during their lifetime. At any given point in life, a person can point out what they think was their biggest failure. That perspective will continue to change as they grow older and hopefully wiser. I’m still young, so I’m reasonably sure I haven’t experienced my biggest failure yet, but one big failure I made dramatically changed my outlook on life. Although some people might view this event as more of an unfortunate accident than anything else, I still consider the experience a failure to learn from.
Choosing a right career path can be tough. Especially, when the parents are involved. Parents want their children to have a better life in the future so they want their children to be educated. When they are successfully graduate from the college they can get a high paying job and earn much more than their parents. However, does everyone listen and follow their parents’ decisions about the career? What happen if kids didn’t want what their parents told them to do? Is there a compromise and or one side needs to give in? It was a tough decision for me too. There was a lot of pressure on me. I was hesitated and somehow worried when my parents were involved, but I knew what I want for my career.
This paper will mainly be about my future career exploration. I will be writing about my future career goals and how I hope to achieve it. As a junior, I know that it is really crucial to begin thinking about how to attain my career goals. I am really hoping that this paper would serve as a guide for me. It can be used to help me keep track of my goals. When I first began my college experience, I thought I would need many sciences based classes for my future career. After trying that route, I found that I wanted to be more hands on and have a major that will help me to explore different areas and aspects. That is when I found out about the HDFS major. Upon learning that this major could guide me to my future career goals, I did not hesitate to declare it as my major. Ever since then, I have really been enjoying this major.
Daniel H Pink emphasizes that our world should move toward Motivation 3.0 and that we should become more type I people than Type X. Pink suggest this because Motivation 3.0 and Type I both go with the three nutrients we need to better our world; autonomy, mastery, and purpose. Autonomy is a self-determination theory, Mastery is the desire to get better and better at something you like, and finally purpose provides activation energy for living. Pink reaffirms “For type I, it’s the main motivator is the freedom, challenge, and purpose of the undertaking itself; any other gains are welcome, but mainly as a bonus.” (76) . I agree to the three elements in Motivation 3.0 and as well as to Type I because of my experience in education toward my career confirms it. I’ve had challenges threw my education and I know that I will continue to have them, but I also know that I have some freedom in the work I have to do. All of this will help me in my career and a Preschool Teacher.
When you ask most kids what they want to be when they grow up, they say they want to be doctors, firefighters, astronauts, or billionaires. These are all careers which guarantee a nice, steady, sizeable income and financial stability. Most kids don’t really want to pursue a career that almost guarantees poverty. I guess that’s what makes me special. The career of my dreams is a career that will make virtually no money. The career of my dreams is a career that will have me living with housemates for the rest of my life; the first time I’ll get a room to myself is when I am in my coffin ready to descend into the ground. The price of pursuing the career of my dreams will forever exceed my earnings from it. The career of my dreams is to
