One: Lisa could report her concerns regarding the opposition of Randy and Dale to DFH Human Resources. This would not only prompt an investigation into the allegations regarding Carol’s impairment, but also bring the supervision issues to upper management’s attention. Advantages include documentation of both presenting problems and disadvantages entail generating additional conflict between the two agencies. Two: As a mandated reporter, Lisa must report her suspicions of child endangerment to DFS immediately. Advantages of this option include having the incident documented and the initiation of an investigation. Although this strategy brings awareness to the allegations regarding Carol, it does not address the supervision concerns. Three:

The case of Sherry requires a review and analysis of Minnesota laws regarding mandatory reporting, drug offenses, and child neglect. Based on the synthesis of information from several statutes the author asserts that the case does require a report be filed with state child welfare agencies.
The trainee will explore the 51A report of child abuse or neglect. The first intensive reviews the detail how to take a 51A report. The trainee also goes through the 51A form for mandated reporters. The trainee is also introduced to the three goals of screening which states the primary goal of screening is to gather sufficient information from the reporter to be able to identify and locate the children, parents or primary caretaker, and also check agency records to determine if the family has been reported or known to the agency. The second goal of screening is to meet the needs of the reporter by providing support and encouragement to the reporter as they deal with the fears and concerns regarding the family. Frequent reports struggle with the decision of whether or not to file. The third goal is to determine in collaboration with the Hotline clinical case supervisor and the DCF on call supervisor what the response time will be for the DCF determining risk level to the child. In the second week the trainee is also trained in writing the 51A narrative, screening decisions, DCF protective intake procedures, and a iFamily net intensive entering the 51A reports in the iFamily net database, searching of people, cases, and foster
After a thorough investigation of the system within DCF, it is seen that the common misconceptions stating DCF are at fault for children experiencing troubling abuse/neglect can be disproved. To the average eye, every time a story is published in the media bashing DCF, it makes it easy to point fingers. However, in order to attain full knowledge of what actually happens, a closer look at the system itself is required.
When a child is suspected of being abused, neglected or placed at imminent risk of serious harm by a member of the staff of a private or public school or an institution that cares for the child, the person in charge of the school or facility must notify the child’s parent or other person responsible for the child’s care that a report has been made. The state’s department of child abuse responsibility is to notify the head of a facility, school or establishment that a report has been made.
Arizona Child Abuse Info Center provides information in addition to training on Arizona legislation requirements on mandated reporting. The site includes a free mandatory reporting training with a pretest and posttest, it also includes training slides on top of video training. The pretest included 14 questions to gauge the level of understanding of the legislation of Arizona for mandated reporting for child abuse. The additional training clarified on the repercussions that can occur if a social worker fails to report suspected child abuse. The result includes a misdemeanor charge, a felony charge, including an administrative reprimand. It is helpful to know that there is immunity to the reporter if the report was made in good faith. That provides protection to the social worker from any civil
In an article called "Disabilities Are Not Always Obvious. Don't Judge Us Without Knowing the Full Story", Nia Sims depicts the concerns over disability fraud issues that disabled people face when she expresses how her friends (who are disabled) felt negative emotions when strangers would verbally attack them of wrongfully using accessible parking spots for not appearing visibly disabled. In her article, regarding her friends, Sims states that “They tell me that they feel their privacy is being violated – the accusation of wrongdoing has the disabled person often feeling pressured to explain their incapacity to justify their behavior” (Sims). In other words, her friends and disabled people, in general, are somewhat forced to explain to strangers
abuse or suspected abuse of vulnerable individuals is mandated to be reported in most states
When children come into the custody of DCFS and are placed into Foster Care they are scared, confused, lonely, and usually conditioned not to tell when they are being mistreated. Most of the children that come into “the system” have learned to accept abuse as normal or natural and are unaware that they are even being mistreated. Therefore, when they are placed in homes where this is occurring it is not in their nature to speak up. Once they are removed from their parents, they are solely reliant on the department for their protection and it is the department’s responsibility to provide that protection which has not always been fulfilled by the department or the foster care agencies. The department should be making reasonable efforts to provide proper services
