After he steals the pie he states, “I knew an apple got Eve in deep trouble with snakes…” He uses this example from the Bible to show his religious upbringing and how he applies this story from creation to his sins. Like Eve, he realized that he did something wrong after the fact. At the end of the narrative, he brings up sin again to say, “I knew sin was what you took and didn’t give back.” He includes this sentence to show the purpose of sharing his childhood story with the reader and what he learned from his mistakes. He reveals his religious views and morals at the end to justify that he is aware of his wrongdoing and also to help the reader avoid the same fate.
Often times we find ourselves thinking about the past only to try to force the memories away and return to our current delusion. We can never erase the past, but if the past is who we are, then should we just welcome pain back into our lives? Embarrassment, guilt, and pride betray us as we choose to bury our darkest memories in our head and look to a positive future without ever having to readdress them and acknowledge that they had ever happened in the first place. Thinking back now my weakest moment caught me by complete surprise.
The fact that she is not only able to pour her heart out to the beggar but also make note of something like the jewelry he is wearing makes this conversation a bit more interesting. She recognizes the jewelry as resembling something belonging to Odysseus and finds it a little strange that this beggar could own such a

Ray Karner was a 35 year old man who shovels dead bodies into furnaces. He was the type of person who loved memories. Anything he thought was meaningful, he immediately jotted down in his diary. He had a daughter and a wife who he loved dearly. Many memories of them took up about half of his small pocket book. One after another, great days would pass by. But later he soon came to realize that things don’t always seem the way you want them to be.
It was early Friday afternoon, the start of Memorial Day weekend and I almost lost my best friend. Now usually on Memorial Day weekend my family and close family friends go camping but this year the other family couldn’t go so we decided to call it off. Not having anything to do that day I decided to take my dog for a walk. My dog is a Terrier Poodle mix so she’s not very big. Her name is Pepper and she’s just your average lap dog but she’s my best friend. So i put her leash on her and asked my little sister is she wanted to go and she said no, so it was just Pepper and I. We made it two houses down before the neighbor's German Shepherd came to meet us. There was nothing to worry about though because this is a nice dog, so I thought. Before I knew what was happening the German Shepherds jaw crushed down on Peppers back and stomach, picked her up, shook her like a chew toy, and threw her. The

Alienation revolves around the state of being isolated from a group or activity that one should be involved in. Lisa Jadwin writes in the article “Literary Contexts in Short Stories: Edgar Allan Poe's The Gold-Bug,” that “Poe was repeatedly alienated from and reconciled with his foster-father, who was both tight-fisted and rigid, and eventually sought work as a journalist and editor in Richmond, Philadelphia, and New York”(Jadwin). Turning away Poe regularly not only led to him feeling isolated within what was suppose to be his family, but it also led to him being forced to withdraw from the university because his foster parents refused to assist him with tuition. This alienation that Poe dealt with in his personal life is reflected onto his character Legrand. Instead of believing in him, similar to Poe’s foster parents not believing in Poe’s decision to become a writer, Legrand’s friends decided to get together and
I came home from school just like any other day. It was around the end of the fourth grade and I was very exited for summer to be here! I noticed an unusual box sitting in the corner of the room but I paid it no attention as a rambled on to my mom, what I thought was a sectaculer day! Later my dad called my sister and I to the kitchen table to talk. The first thing that crossed my mind was, “oh Lord, what have we done now?” Instead, my dad pointed at the box in the corner. He told us to go look inside and tell him if we recognized where the things were from. As I look down into the box, I recognize the pictures of my family and the past fathers day gifts my sister or I had given my dad over the years that he always had sitting on his desk at
