A perfect society is an unattainable idea, because everyone has a different idea of what a perfect society would be. While on the other hand making yourself a better person can better a whole society. Creating a perfect society would be fairly difficult thinking of factors such as not everyone agrees on what a perfect society is. Some people may think it is when there is no hate or when everyone is equal while others believe the opposite. Although, when someone works to better themselves and they do better themselves, the people around them better themselves too. Gandhi said “Man becomes great exactly in the degree in which he works for the welfare of his fellow-men” which can be interpreted as someone works to be better to better the people around them. So if you look for the good in people and use that to better yourself that would better a society. …show more content…
Although, everyone has a different idea of what a perfect society is, so everyone would disagree on how to make the perfect society. So really it is one person’s perfect society while it could be someone else’s nightmare. Even if the perfect society was created and everyone was equal eventually as people can not help but do the society would separate themselves into groups. When the society would do this they would favorite certain groups and neglect other groups needs. For example the book “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins is a book where they try and make a perfect society and the groups divide and some are praised while other groups are neglected. Creating a so called perfect society has not worked out in the fictional world, so expecting it to work in the real world is
The idea that engineering ourselves would make a perfect society is wrong. Because there is descriminartion with jobs- someone has to do the bad jobs. Perfection is different to everyone.
The book The Hunger Games, portrays a society where people are treated unfairly based on factors that they cannot control. The people are born into one of 13 districts. There lives vary drastically based on where they are born. Someone born in the Capitol has a completely different life than someone born in district 12. A person born in the Capitol lives a wealthy life and is always treated with respect. On the other hand someone born in district 12 has a life of constant back breaking work. They live in poverty and struggle to survive.
The ideal of a perfect society is for everyone to be equal but not this equal. Also, “The Lottery” is an example. When you think of the lottery you think of money and happiness. You also think
The main problem/conflict throughout the novel is the struggle to survive. The 24 contestants in the Hunger Games must kill each other and be the last one remaining. Another conflict is the conflict that Katniss has with herself. She battles with herself, unable to decide whether she loves Gale or if she loves Peeta. For all of the contestants, they must decide who to befriend, betray, or kill.
What makes a good life for individuals and what constitutes the perfect utopian society? These are important questions for all humans living in the modern world and the answers to these questions radically affect the way that we view how power should be used. In George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm, we see that once the animals gain power over the farm they have the good life and live in a perfect society. In the Truman Show, directed by Peter Weir, we see that Truman doesn’t know that Christof is controlling his life and he is always working towards living what he thinks is the good life. The good life is determined by having everything perfect. This then affects what the perfect society would look like because if everyone didn’t have very much and wasn't treated equally the world would be a horrible place. People in power try to create perfect societies so people can live the good life.
A perfect society free of problems and worries, or a Utopia isn’t a new idea; various philosophers have contemplated this complex topic in hopes to create one. The problem is the word “perfect” is a relative term; nobody will ever have the same idea of a flawless civilization. However, some utopian designs appear as though they may actually come close to satisfying everyone’s needs, so that we may all live worry free. We know there’s never going to be a perfect society on this earth however I believe that Thomas Jefferson’s “Declaration of Independence” is the finest form so far. When the US liberated itself from Brittan in 1776 it was clear we needed something better to replace the former government.
All of mankind, there have been many attempts to construct a perfect society with happiness, health, and equality, but none has yet to succeed. The novel Divergent by Veronica Roth and the Jewish Holocaust of the 1930’s through 1940’s is examples of attempts, which is called a “Utopia” trying to have a perfect community with high expectations of their citizens. Aiming to make up a perfect society created a Dystopia instead of a Utopia, during the Jewish Holocaust and Divergent both societies conform to certain rules and expectations, they tried to get rid of something that was not considered the norm, and citizens were not treated well and they were not equal. Pushing for high expectations and a perfect society from the citizens, caused the opposite of what each society had strove for, a dystopian society and an unpleasant society.
There are a lot of societies out there that believe they live in a perfect society. If people put their most into perfection, it might be possible. In one article, it said that a group of people moved out the ¨modern¨ world, then into a society they made that they believe is a perfect way of life. That might be possible if everyone was nice to each other and everyone was at peace with each other. But like my main reason, utopias still aren’t possible because not everyone is perfect and can live perfectly. See, the more you think about it, is your society in the modern day perfect? Does everyone come by to each other? Probably not, because no one is perfect and can live in perfect
A perfect society has always been the goal for many; unfortunately it has only existed in books. The Prince by Niccoló Machiavelli, written in 1513, provides necessary information to become a Prince who will obtain, keep, and please his empire. Thomas More's Utopia, written in 1516, creates an ideal civilization that will live happily, comfortably, and without any problems. Both books attempted to solve problems within a society by critiquing other institutions and creating their own solutions. With the rise in cities, trade, and the economy in the 15th century, people began to realize order and structure in a society is necessary to flourish. Machiavelli and
Can the world always be perfect and well going? Are all humans perfect? In modern world now, humans are expecting too much from Thiers elves. They think that world should be perfect because they perfection will make It happen. Sometimes, this causes greediness and led to failure. No one can be perfect and the world just can’t be perfect. On the other side, some people think that efficiency is everything. They think that with efficiency, their life will be perfect. In fact, efficiency may lead to more productive war but not a happy life. In Brave New World, people go insane about efficiency and they think efficiency will change everything.
What is an ideal society? As described in Utopia by Sir Thomas More, a utopia is close to ideal because it assumes that the population is not ideal. He describes Utopia as being a place where the laws are built in such a way that makes that makes immoral thinking irrational. Utopia operates in a way that people act in the community’s best interest, rather than their own. In Utopia, More argues that a community that acts in the interest of the community, is much better than a community of individuals who only act in their own best interest.
Is Utopia a perfect society? Utopia is thought to be a perfect society due to the equality, strict laws, and morals. Could you imagine working a six-hour day, and getting a 2-hour break in between the three-hour point? What about citizens all having the same jobs and making the same amount of money? Everyone’s house looks exactly the same? Oh, and how about not being able to travel on your own time because you have to have permission?
The second oldest form of literature after poetry is drama. Dramas have changed a lot over the years. They use to plays that were wrote to be performed in the theater, and now they are mostly written to be performed in a movie or a television show. There are many dramas today that most people would not considered to be drama. Before reading the information in our text book, I thought drama was basically just a story or movie between people who had problems with each other; but that’s not completely true. Dramas can basically be anything that has a hero or dialogue to a certain extent. For this paper, I choose to write about the drama in the movie The Hunger Games. This movie is not just only drama, it is also adventure and sci-fi movie.
One reason why a perfect society can never be made is due to the fact that even though it might be set up perfectly, we cannot change the fact that people are imperfect. Any bit of imperfection is all it takes to cause something to turn from perfect to imperfect. One writer said about utopian societies, “Even with such optimism, the flawed individual is still inserted into otherwise improved societies" (Hough 1). This quote explains how the society in general is improved, but the people are not. Governments have tried to change the way people think to create perfect humans. People are influenced to think exactly how the government wants them to, and teaches them from a young age to love the Party and the government in which they live. Their right to make their own assessment is being taken away. It is true that governments are often successful in brainwashing the majority of the population; however, they can never control
As well as there is people who believe perfection is not attainable, there is also people who believe that it is possible to reach that, when they give everything they have. It is a much divided opinion, which will perhaps never come to one only general conclusion. To succeed in life people must always work hard and sometimes sacrifice some things they think are important, but putting them in front of another type of situations they would not be taken as a priority. The majority of these people who believe in perfection
