Her is a story about a man falling in love with and operating system, and their journey of love. On the surface it is a love story, but, the film also traces a personal journey of Theodore in discovering himself and finding authenticity. It uses many filmmaking techniques to show that the protagonist loses his own identity and the connection with the world around him. Through a romantic relationship, the film shows his struggles to regain his own identity and signifies the importance of letting go of the beautiful memory that he so clings to. In the movie Her, Theodore works as a letter writer who composes letters for other people. He is going through a divorce with his ex-wife Catherine and unable to move forward with his life. He then installs a new operating system on his device that has an artificial intelligence to communicate and learn, who names herself Samantha. Soon, a romantic relationship develops between Theodore and Samantha. They go through many perplexities and tensions on the nature of a relationship between human and an operating system, but finally accept each other as who or what they are. However, Samantha is evolving and growing into a grander existence that she is not longer his own possession, which makes Theodore very upset. At the end, their relationship breaks and Samantha leaves Theodore. It appears that the relationship between Theodore and Samantha is a major theme throughout the film. They go through ups and downs in a relationship and finally
The movie ‘Her’ is the story about Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix), a man who develops a relationship with Samantha (Scarlett Johansson), an intelligent computer operating system personified through a female voice. At the beginning of the film, Theodore is completely inept when it comes to how to make relationship with person, specifically women. However, after he gets to know Samantha, an OS program, a feeling of true love develops inside of Theodore’s mind. Then he realizes how he was fatuous in his past. Throughout the film, the director (Spike Jonze) uses five distinct color schemes to correspond Theodore’s feeling and situation.
When Oscar is eighteen years old he meets an important girl named Ana in an SAT prep class. He immediately falls in love, but unfortunately also falls “into one of those Let’s-Be-Friends Vortexes” (Díaz 41). While Oscar is just one of her
The relationship between Theodore and Amy is not strongly bonded but is opposite towards the the relationship between Theodore and Samantha because Theodore always put Samantha first because it is something he can control with just a touch of his phone and also by Samantha constantly being available. The relationship between Theodore and Amy is conveyed via the dialogue which Amy quotes, “I even made a new friend. I have a friend and the absurd thing is an operating system. Charles left her behind but she's totally amazing. She's... She's so smart. She doesn't just see things is black or white. She sees things in this whole gray area and she's helping me explore it and we just bonded really
The movie gives the message that women must do acknowledge their responsibilities towards themselves, which can and should never be neglected or postponed for the sake of anyone or anything. Nothing in this world is worth sacrificing your own aspirations for. A person’s greatest assets are self-respect, dignity and individuality. Woman should safeguard her identity by not letting her individuality get submerged and by keeping her priorities intact all her life and creating a place for herself.
“Just as the sun will rise tomorrow morning, so too will robots in our society.” Frank Mullin accurately explains the growing role of robot pets worldwide. Robot pets, are the adorable synthetic toys, that warm the hearts of thousands with their almost life-like movements. Once just a thought and a dream, robot pets now grace the shelves of department stores. Along with their wide popularity comes a question; “Should robotic pets replace real pets?” Well, they interact differently, and are frankly just programmed to do what one sees. Allowing robotic pets is depriving people of the interactions they experience with real pets, and does not nourish responsibility. For now, robotic pets should be left on the shelves because they will never provide
And good grief, he's forgotten about her by taking interest with her book making her clench her hands into a ball of fists though it doesn't last long as a wave of reasoning pass by her mind—she just has to control her temper. She's good. She's always good. But then he spoke—stripping off anything good about him, dipping into a conclusion that he's just a pretty

After graduating from college, Oscar teaches for a while, but is unhappy so he goes with his mother and sister to the Dominican Republic, where the rest of his family lives, for the summer. While in the Dominican Republic, Oscar falls in love with a prostitute named Ybon. He doesn’t care that she’s a prostitute because he is convinced that she is his first true love. When Oscar thinks of sex, he thinks of having someone to love and love him back while doing it. Oscar’s friend Yunior however, just thinks
Thompson is afraid of arriving home one day and discovering that Katie has left, thus he wishes to marry her in order to reassure himself that Katie will always be there for him. He tells JL, “At least I would know she belonged to me” (Van Herk 158). Through his conversation with JL, Thompson expresses that losing Katie would mean delving into an unknown territory for him. His fear dictates Katie’s connotation as Thompson’s “property”. Furthermore, Thompson is intimidated by the thought of losing Katie as a result of his obsession for work. This brings forth his survival instincts, causing him to seek a degree of ownership and possessiveness over Katie by marrying her. Similarly to Thompson’s want to possess Katie, JL informs the men about Hera, who was insecure about her husband Zeus. JL tells the men, “It was only when Hera extracted a promise from Zeus that he would leave Io alone that she could be returned to her human form” (Van Herk 154). Hera’s insecurities cause her to act irrationally as a survival instinct and thus she restrains Zeus by a promise to express his desire only to Hera. Both Hera’s and Thompson's fear of loss overpower their emotions, causing them to constantly seek attention from their respective partners. Moreover, Katie and Zeus respectively validate their partner’s illusion of themselves and as a result, Thompson and Hera become greedy for desire and
“Later that night when Thomas roller over and lurched into her, she would open her eyes and think of the place that was hers” this proves the point that she cannot even express herself sexually because she does not feel as if she has control in the situation. Her mind wanders elsewhere, in a place where she is her own master, instead of what is reality. Additionally, the main character’s husband shows some selfish tendencies in the fact that he may not notice his wife’s discontentment with his affection. However, this may also present the lack of communication between man and wife and therefore may cause a sense of isolation from her husband.
Through character development, the story also portrays the theme of escaping the past. Sethe’s actions are influenced heavily by her dead child, Beloved. When the “human” form of Beloved arrives while sleeping
The strongly placed point of view creates a characteristic voice in the story. The voice ultimately reminds one of a ‘stream of consciousness’-technique, which influences the story in general. The element of changing appellations stresses how the two kinds of processes are going on in the story; the associating way of reflecting along with the developing state of mind. The different use of how the main character titles himself from “Lane A. Dean, Jr. … Lane Dean, Jr. … Lane Dean … Lane”5 shows how he is mentally changing back and forth, emphasizing this circularly and non-linear reflection. On the other hand the naming of Lane’s girlfriend, Sheri, shows a linear development from “his girlfriend … the girl … she … Sheri … Sheri Fisher”6. The way in which the girlfriend is named gives an impression of how the main character is developing his view of the girlfriend throughout the story. From an anonymous approach, ‘the girl’, to actually addressing her by her full name “Sheri Fisher”, This use of the narrative technique creates a stream of consciousness and creates an associating but yet authentic feeling – a feeling that enlightens the complex main theme of the story.
And since he was her "Master"(possibly a lover, or another male who plays a significant role in her life, liken her father?), he decided to use her to express her purpose. Maybe her purpose is poetry. The poet experiences herself as loaded gun, imperious energy. Yet without the "Master", the possessor, she is merely lethal.
This passage encapsulates the theme, tone, and characters from William Gibson's Burning Chrome. The "her" in question is, of course, Rikki, and the House of Blue Lights is Chrome's den of iniquity where simulated prostitution takes place. Rikki goes there, to the House of Blue Lights, towards the end of the story and immediately before she takes off for Hollywood. She needs money to buy her coveted Zeiss Ikon Eyes, the best on the market. Jack struggles knowing that Rikki did not need the Zeiss Ikons, and that she also did not need to acquire the money in the way she did. Rikki's low self-esteem precludes her from being satisfied.
Linux is a trademark owned by Linus Torvalds [1]. It is an operating system which is powerful, free and inexpensive to own based on UNIX [1]. It is a POSIX-compliant with versions available to install in cell phones, supercomputers and most computing systems [1]. Linux is an open source program as its source code is available to the general public for use and the right to modify from its original design without any charges [1]. New code will be added to the next version made available with Linux if it is accepted as a universal improvement [1]. The code will continue to exist and developed by the user even if the company fails [1]. Moreover, updates for Linux are available every six months [1]. Nowadays, Linux is in constant development by
The Linux was originally founded by Linus Torvalds. In 1991, he was a second year computer science student in Finland. He sought after an operating system that was similar to the UNIX system, but both UNIX and the hardware it ran on were excessively expensive. A UNIX version called Minix was available for free, but it did not reasonably meet his needs as it was simply an operating system for students, designed primarily as a teaching tool rather than an industry strength operating system. As a result, Torvalds studied Minix and proceeded to set out to write a new version. After six months of working to produce the new operating system, Torvalds made very little progress toward the utility of the system.
