Automotive Service Technician
Main duties:
• Receive and review work orders with supervisor and co-workers.
• Inspecting motors in operation, road testing vehicles and testing automotive systems and components using electronic/computer or other testing devices to diagnose problems and isolate faults
• Adjusting, repairing or replacing parts and components of automotive systems including fuel, brake, steering and suspension systems
• Performing scheduled maintenance service such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups
• Testing and adjusting repaired systems to manufacturer 's specifications

Reading is essential for automotive service technicians because they need to read comments on work orders to understand problems and repair schedules. Workers need to read instructions and safety warnings on product labels read reports describing recalls and faults of specific model of automobiles. They also need to read repair manuals to diagnose ad fix mechanical faults. Overall reading is found throughout the workplace and is mandatory for all automotive service technicians.

A person in this career inspects vehicles for damages and records findings so that necessary repairs can be made.
