The 2016-2017 NBA season has come to a close. (Thank god. Being a Sixers fan, I’m not sure how much more mental frustration I could take thanks to GM Bryan Colangelo and the Sixers medical staff.)
The NBA Playoffs begin on Saturday. The series to watch is without question Houston versus Oklahoma City. Russell Westbrook versus James Harden for at least four games is 100 percent must watch television since two MVP candidates will be competing against each other in the first round.
Before the playoffs start on Saturday, there are some things that need to be worked out -- namely NBA awards. Who am I to give my opinion on this? I’m not a professional sports writer with an ACTUAL vote or anything, but I am an NBA fan of over 30 years. Again,

The knock on the Greek Freak is his three-point shooting, but he’s only taken 180 this season. Antetokounmpo knows what he’s good at -- being freakishly athletic -- and excels at doing so. Giannis runs this team, and he’s the reason why Milwaukee is mildly threatening going into their first-round matchup with the Toronto Raptors.
Jokic has been a nice story for a 39-win Denver team that was in playoff contention up until this past Sunday when Russell Westbrook hit a 40-footer with three seconds left.
"The Joker" has seen an uptick in numbers both counting (16.6 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 4.9 apg) and advanced metrics (9.3 WS, .224 WS/48, 125 ORtg). He’s also the best passing big man who you’ve never heard of until now. “Point Jokic” was the reason why I tuned into Nuggets games after seeing him in the Rising Stars game back in February.
The Denver big man is the centerpiece in the Nuggets reshaping along with Jamal Murray and an improving Gary Harris. Jokic is a name you’ll be hearing a lot in the next few years, and he has certainly grown to where he should become a household name outside the Denver Metropolitan Area.
Giannis’s jump was just slightly better than
He became the perfect basketball weapon, a force who can't be guarded and can be stopped only if he stops himself. We all know about his great shooting and incredible range. But what separates Curry is that he doesn't need off-the-ball movement and picks to create space for a shot. He has an amazing ability to create his own space, and he doesn't even need that much, and he can shoot from anywhere on the court, so the defense can't ease up or sit back, even from deep. The combination of not needing a lot of space and having incredible range creates a huge problem for defenses.Whoever is guarding Curry needs to respect Curry's range and
Led by All-American Buddy Hield (25.1 PPG), they have the talent to beat anyone in the tournament.
Russell Westbrook is one of the most exciting players to watch as he electrifies the building with his ferocious dunks. After being left by Kevin Durant, Westbrook has been breaking all kinds of records and leading the Thunder to the playoffs. Next time you see number zero on your T.V screen, grab your popcorn and take a seat, because it’s showtime! (Jenkins)
For example, Blake Griffin, Lebron James, and CJ Mccollum and that's just to name a few players that think he should get the award. He is working a hundred ties more than any NBA player in the league. No player is working and or playing as hard as him. For example, if watch any of games against any good team he always comes back from some sort of deficit. Also, he always does this by himself his other players just play defense during that time. Even Michael Jordan is saying he should get the MVP award, and all the sports channels and sports announcers. Also, other NBA fans that were saying James Harden should get the award are saying Russell Westbrook should get the award
With second-year coach Frank Vogel at the helm, the Magic are expected to push the tempo and play a faster pace of basketball, something that fits Gordon skill set. Last season Gordon mostly played small forward while averaging 12.7 points. This year he’s expected to play more power forward, this will allow him to have a speed advantage over slower defenders.
“You see him and he just has ‘it,’" Brown said via Jessica Camerato of CSN Philly. "Years ago, you saw it with [Tim] Duncan. I see it with him in regards to a real target offensively and a real sort of centerpiece defensively.”
His career highs so far are with the Timberwolves. He played in 57 games, his field goal (2-point shots) percentage is at .421, his 3-point percentage is at .304, his free throw percentage is at .641, and he has his high in rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks also. The only record he has broke since then was his free throw percentage that changed to .900 with the Raptors. In his whole career so far he has played in 151 games, has 472 rebounds, given 77 assists, has 58 steals, has 27 blocks, and 658 points. He has only played in four seasons, so this is impressive. Although he hasn’t won any championships, he has great achievements and who knows how his future will
After Sam Hinkie and the 76ers acquired a center with a top lottery pick in the NBA draft for the third time in as many years on Thursday, the timer went off on the basketball community's oven, as the hot takes were finally cooked and ready to be served. The can of competitiveness had been kicked down Broad Street once again, relegating the Sixers to another year of irrelevancy.
Guys like Curry, Draymond Green and even Andre Iguodala all will steal looks away from him. Overall, the kid is phenomenal shooting the ball, but his other stats could use a bit of polishing. He should end up around the third ranked shooting guard in the league for me.
At ninth, Nikola Vucevic of the Orlando Magics is the ninth best center in the NBA. He averaged 19 points and 1 rebounds, shooting a career high 52 percent from the field and having his best season as a midrange shooter. Defensively, Vucevic is not so good. He doesnt play well defense but is going to improve because of the teams new coach.
Walker's role on the team has changed dramatically since his freshman season four years ago, when he averaged 4 points per game in 18 minutes, to now averaging 7.7 points in 27 minutes per game.
Often compared to Jason Kidd, Ball has been commended for his leadership qualities along with his maturity and court vision. He is a facilitator in the veins of a true point guard, something not very common in the league anymore. He had an impressive season averaging 14.7 pts per game, 7.6 assists, and 6.1 rebounds helping catapult UCLA to a number 3 seed in the NCAA tournament. \
As the summer winds down and the NBA season is upon us, the Golden State Warriors are planning for their fight to claim another championship ring. Last season, the Warriors won the most games in a single season in NBA history (73), but fell just short of winning back-to-back championships. Having recruited superstar Kevin Durant, who joined the team this summer, seems to have made Golden State even more frightening than it already was. However, past experiences have shown us that a cluster of superstars on one team doesn’t necessarily mean an automatic ring.
Giannis Antetokounmpo for MVP? He is the best player right now. He lead the league in most points so far this year. He is averaging a double double every game. He is one heck of a player. Michael Jordan says he should win it. Nobody can guard him with his height and his wingspan. He is one of the best to come out of country.
When Anthony Davis has been healthy, he has given fans a vision from the past when legendary centers were the conquering giants of the NBA. Davis’s point totals per game have increased every season, finishing fourth in points per game behind three electric backcourt players.
