I feel the AP program is a good fit for me due to the fact that I am a student who feels that he is not being challenged enough. The AP program will give me the opportunity to show my abilities; what I can do. I have heard - from friends, from teachers, from my parents’ friends - about how challenging the Advanced Placement program is, how it provides me with a better education, and I want to see for myself if I can live up to the expectations of the AP program. I want a head start in life by getting the upper hand when applying for a respected university and a boost to my high school education. Attending the AP program would offer me all of these opportunities, especially with the university-level courses that this program offers. …show more content…
I was chosen as the lead drummer for the Rock Band club, participating in many different events such as the Christmas fair and the March fair. In addition, I was also involved in the instrumental band, taking the role of one of the leading clarinets. I also contributed to my school's athletic events. I participated in many intramurals: volleyball, football, dodgeball, floor hockey, and more. I was able to make a significant contribution to all the teams that I played on and lead some of the teams to great success. My participation in the track and field activities was also noteworthy, as I was able to win multiple sprinting medals.
I am also heavily invested in making my school the best that it can be, made especially evident by my participation in money-raising events and various clubs. I am an active participant in all of my school's events, actively taking part in the many fundraisers being held as well as events to boost school spirit. I participated in many clubs over the three years that I spent at Fallingbrook, including the Chess Club, Me to We, Robotics, and the clubs that I have mentioned previously.
I heard of the AP program from friends, family friends, guidance counselors, and
Someone once said, “Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t.” I use to think that I couldn’t take AP because it was too difficult. But I’m willing to prove to myself and others that just because something is considered hard, doesn’t automatically mean it’s not for you or that you’re going to fail. I want to take AP Biology because I want to challenge myself, of the benefits, and for the experience. I believe that hard work comes with great rewards that are life changing.
I believe I should be enrolled into AP history, because I need to be able to take the next stepin high school. I think if I take this course, I will be prepared for the hard work and time that I will have to invest if I want to be a good student. This class is also an opportunity for me to better myself at studying for tests, because tests have always been my weakness and I believe this class could really get me to the point where I am studying a week in advance. I think that I deserve to be in AP history, because I went from being a student who couldn’t even get on Honor Roll in 7th grade, to a student who has been on High Honor Roll in 8th grade. If I hope to continue to make academic strides in school then I think that AP history will help
When this class started at the beginning of this semester I was not sure I would learn a lot. The main objectives of this class were fairly simple. There were five main objectives to use and know. They are the following:
Over the past year, I have served my school and community in many different ways. Whether it be through volunteering or participating in organizations that work to make changes in the lives of others. I try to stay involved in my environment. Currently, I am a student at Rockford Lutheran High School. With the multitude of clubs, my school offers, I am able to interact with other club members to promote student participation. Every year we participate in drives and fundraisers. In Key Club, each year we put together solider boxes. We collect a variety of small items and send hand packaged boxes to our fighting soldiers, as a gift for christmas. Other drives that I partake in are the canned food drives for the local food pantries, and the clothing drives to give winter clothing to those less fortunate. This helps to provide this vulnerable population with warmth during the cold winter months.
The final mast of school and community involvement was catalyzed when I joined Key Club as a freshman. Finding a passion for service and leadership, it rapidly became my primary focus in deepening my high school experience. Key Club inspired me to search for further opportunities for leadership and involvement, leading me to join Student Council, Relay for Life, and so forth. Through my various executive positions, I have not only improved my own character and qualities, but also inspired others around me to do the
Throughout high school, I’ve been involved in multiple activities. As I began high school sports, I looked up to the upperclassmen and tried to be like them. As I grow older, I try to be a positive role model for the underclassmen, just as the students before me had done. I believe that being a positive influence on the ones that look up to you is a splendid aspect to have. As my senior year approached, I participated in volleyball for my fourth year. Throughout practice, I was sure to reach
As your school’s most visible athletes your primary role is to build a sense of community and school spirit both on and off the playing field. Whether cheering at games, running a pep rally, hosting visitors, or competing at competition, always conduct yourselves in a manner that bring enthusiasm to your school and unity to your community.
I have have attended Diboll High School for the entirety of my my high school career. I have taken great measures to ensure that I am an involved in almost every activity Diboll High School has to offer. While in High School I have been involved in Dazzlers, National Honor Society, SOAR, Spanish club, HOSA, Student Council, One Act Play, UIL Journalism events, FCCLA, Varsity Golf, and ACADEC. I manage
Given the AP class list at Charlestown High School, and my constant relocating between states during high school, I was only able to take one AP class- AP Language & composition. After coming back to Charlestown High, halfway into September of 2016, I was put into AP Lang and was required to complete all of the summer work in one week. Despite all of the readings and annotations, I was able to complete the requirements, along with a 1500 word essay before the deadline and received the highest grade. Regardless of the challenges that I face outside, and inside of school I’ve always been able to strive for academic excellence and push myself to partake in the creation of new knowledge. Throughout my time in high school when given work that I could not fully comprehend in class, I would spend hours after school teaching myself what I could not understand before. By pushing myself to learn more outside of school I always ended up being ahead of my class in the long run. If given the chance to be a part of the Program I feel that I will have a strong community to learn from, teach and help in order to better myself and others no matter the coursework. No matter the case I always have the motivation to strive for excellence in everything that I do whether
Another significant extra-curricular activity I pursued for eight years is figure skating. I started at six and quit at sixteen. I like to consider myself as a successful athlete becuase I competed in lots of competitions and received approximately 30 metals. I competed individually at the regional level and with my synchronized skating team at the national level. During my figure skating career, I tested my dances, skills and solo and have almost all possible levels for each area of the discipline
Starting this class, I’ll be honest, I was afraid when I heard about AP Seminar. I didn’t really know how I got into the class because I know my writing isn’t as great as most kids in my class. AP Seminar involves a lot of hard work, and I felt as if my writing wasn’t good enough. Out of my 5 essays from last year, I only got one A. That one A didn’t make me feel smart though, and I didn’t understand why. Writing this now is difficult for me because I don’t know how to explain things in my own words. I heard a lot about how hard this class is and about the speeches. I can’t stand talking about speeches because that is my greatest fear. I still haven’t figured out my main writing strength, but what I do know is I am taking small steps into
Piccolo was presented to me freshman year because my band director needed a piccolo player and I was the only one who had any prior experience. I joined drum line last summer because I was asked by some of the former and current members to join and along with a few new members- all of whom shared the same image of being in another group. Finally, I joined jazz band at the beginning of my junior year because myself and a few other flute players were interested in joining the group, much to the surprise of our band director. We were able to expand the jazz band to originally having two saxophones to having seven saxophones and have an outstanding Swing into Spring, a yearly dinner and dance event to showcase the jazz and orchestra program.
In addition to student organization participation, I am involved in the school musical and the golf team. In both of these activities,
As a student in the advanced track at my current school, I really enjoy being able to challenge myself and be around others who challenge me as well. When I heard that Trinity Catholic offers AP, I automatically knew that Trinity Catholic would be my first choice. I really enjoy being able to learn at a faster and more challenging pace because it almost literally forces me to be the best I can through hard work and dedication to my studies. By being allowed to take an AP course, I will be able to not only challenge myself academically but mentally and develop skills that will be crucial to me throughout high school and college.
In addition, getting involved in school activities such as clubs has been a priority of mine since Grade 9. I have not only joined many clubs but also became a leader in clubs including Debate Club, SAGE Weston Business Club, Chess Club, and Environmental Club. The reason why I enjoy joining clubs is because I always believe that academic excellence is achieved by having a balance of studying and staying active. Moreover, I learn a lot from the clubs that I join and I enjoy passing on my knowledge so that others can also be successful. I have tremendous passion for school involvement and I also co-founded Weston's Computer Club in which we work as a team to develop programs. Our current project is developing a gaming application for the Android Play Store and it will most likely be launched by May 2014. My passion for school involvement influenced my decision to study at Schulich because they offer many unique clubs for undergraduate students including Free the Children, YU Solar, and their International Business Relationship Organization which I am extremely thrilled about. These are just of the few clubs that I am going to join at Schulich and in addition, I am thrilled about their Undergraduate Business Council which I am definitely planning to join and contribute ideas. This is an amazing club because it allows students to contribute to the Schulich
