The topic of abortion can be a very touchy subject for most. A lot of people hold religious perspectives about life and death, which can make the topic of abortion personal, and sensitive. The 1973 Supreme Court ruling of Roe vs. Wade says that no state has the right to outlaw or regulate abortions before the second trimester. In most cases, there are usually two sides arguing their case on abortion, pro-life and pro-choice. People who side with the pro-life argument believe that abortion is wrong and immoral in most, if not all situations. There are arguments made that just as people have fought for their own rights such as women’s suffrage we must also fight for the rights of unborn babies BEATY, K. (2014). According to an article by Christianity Today, there is an argument posed by Pediatrician, Kanwaljeet Anand who states that after twenty weeks a fetus is able to feel pain BEATY, K. (2014). I’m concluding that because of this, pro-life advocates are stating that the act of abortions after the first trimester should be considered cruel. While I am pro-choice, I don’t think that abortions should be conducted during the second trimester of pregnancy. I think after this point, an unborn child can take on more human characteristics and at this point, it is immoral to terminate a life. I agree with the decision of Roe vs. Wade, I feel as though it is every woman’s right to choose whether or not she will carry her pregnancy to term. There are a lot of circumstances that can influence a woman’s decision, what if she can’t afford to care for the child once its born, I think ending a pregnancy as early on as possible is better than exposing a child to possible
