Abraham Lincoln Assassination: Rough Draft Have you ever wondered that life was the cheapest thing on earth? Everyone has a life; so why is it not the cheapest thing on earth? Because one’s life is meaningful making it valuable, and as soon as one’s life is taken away it becomes worthless. Many famous people like leaders, role models, and historical figures have died because of or for what they believe in. Abraham Lincoln was assassinated because of his strong beliefs to abolish slavery and firm action to uphold his opinions. Although Abraham Lincoln gains much respect as President, some people dislike his opinions and beliefs, causing many controversial thoughts between society. Lincoln’s ideal world to abolish slavery: “Four months in, Lincoln countermands a General’s order to free slaves of owners resisting the US, fearful that this will commit him to a totally abolitionist stance,” ( History.com) (Hatfield 1). Because of Lincoln’s bravery, he was able to change America to make everyone equal with eliminating racial injustice. By 1863, Lincoln decided to formal pursue to abolish slavery through government power: “ In 1863, his final Emancipation Proclamation frees the slaves. And by the end of the war, it is likely that Lincoln is committed to not just ending slavery, but ensuring full citizenship to the ‘black race’,” ( History.com) ( Hatfield 2). Abraham grasps at the end of slavery by putting forth a document to seize slavery. This shows courage, care, and rationality, which makes Lincoln’s assassination unjust and unforgetful. Because of Abraham Lincoln’s liberation of the slaves, he should have not be killed or thought of poorly by members of society. Abraham Lincoln saved America: “ He led the Union to war so that he could stop the southern states from being separated from the United States,” ( Eduardo) ( Hatfield 3). Without Abraham Lincoln America may have divided and collapsed. Therefore, people can thank him for saving us through his fearlessness leadership. After Lincoln was killed, people mourned over their president: “ Tens of thousands of Americans lined the railroad route and paid their respect to their fallen leader,” (History.com) ( Hatfield 4). Because of Lincoln’s noble actions and bold leadership, people were dramatized after he had been killed. Lincoln’s valor actions showed why he was a fearless leader; thus, he it was very unjust to kill such a prominent leader.
