Abstract On Water Pollution

Water, is a very valuable and necessary resource that, must be managed more carefully. Quantity-wise it is endless; all around the world there are many bodies of water. Ground sources, such as aquifers, as well as surface water, including oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, ponds, and streams. Because of its endlessness it becomes more difficult to manage it all. Clean water that is readily available, for developed and devolving nations alike, is a challenge. There are many factors that play into what can access water sources, and pollute it. Pollution of water is a worldwide problem that occurs too frequently. Comprising over seventy percent of the Earth's surface, water is undeniably the most valuable natural resource. Life on Earth would be non-existent without water because it is essential for everything on our planet to grow. The human body is composed of 50-80% water. Blood and muscles contain significant amounts, and approximately 95% of the brain is water. All body systems and organs need water to function properly, and will shut down without it. Most of the chemical reactions that take place in our body need water as their medium. We can live without food for a few weeks, but can survive only a few days without water. It's essential because unlike other nutrients, water isn't stored in the body. Typically, everyday, we lose around 10

Water is probably the most important resource we as people have. Humans can survive without food for several weeks, but without water we would die in less than a week. On a slightly less dramatic note, millions of liters of water are needed every day worldwide for washing, irrigating crops, and cooling industrial processes, not to mention leisure industries such as swimming pools and water-sports centers. Despite our dependence on water, we use it as a dumping ground for all sorts of waste, and do very little to protect the water supplies we have.

In our society we are encountering environmental issue with water pollution. The world development of modern agriculture and industry, water pollution has been a major problem.

Water pollution is when, “one or more substances have built up in the water to such an extent that they cause problems for animals and people” (Woodford). Water pollution is also bad for humans and animal’s health. Sewage, chemicals, radioactive waste, oil pollution, and plastic, are some causes for water pollution (Explain That Stuff). When water from rain runs off roofs and roads into rivers it carries away trash, toxic chemicals, dirt, and harmful organisms (NRDC Water). Some solutions to these are to throw things into the correct bin, use water wisely, and not throw chemicals, oil, paints, and medicine down the sink, drain, or toilet. When a person is asked what water is, the first things that they say are; water is drinkable, used for showers, simple, washing, etc.. But people don’t really know how complex and important water is for our kind. Water is one of the most precious things we humans have, but we don’t realize it and we damage it without caring for the consequences. Water and water pollution are two things that we should all have in mind. Even though we see water as just a liquid, but there’s more to it than its form or state.

Water is a natural resource that many of us take for granted. We all use as much water as we desire because we do not have a limit as to how much water we can use on a daily basis. Water pollution is the contamination of water by untreated sewage as well as human waste, often to the point when water becomes undrinkable or usable. According to Woodford C, around one-half of all ocean contamination is caused by sewage and waste. “Each year, the world generates perhaps 5–10 billion tons of industrial waste, much of which is pumped untreated into rivers, oceans, and other waterways.” (“Woodford C.” 19). “Many water bodies near urban areas (cities and towns) are highly polluted. Intentionally or accidentally, pollution has entered the water system for years. Our water sources have been treated as an unlimited supply, but with the pollution and waste getting worse, the supply could run low. Fertilizers can drain into rivers from the fields, and effluent is sometimes released into rivers from sewage, chemicals from factories that also illegally dump waste products contribute to pollution (“Water Pollution… 4). Water pollution is a serious problem that is affecting humans and animals, and this problem needs an efficient solution. This can be seen through an examination of the history, causes, effects, and possible solutions.

Water is a critical source that is utilized by most living things on Earth to support it ways of live. The usage of water ranges from basic household needs to agricultural purposes. But when exactly did water pollution become a major problem? Well water pollution became a major problem during and after the events of the Industrial the Revolution. Factories during this time saw water sources as a cheap and convenient way of disposing waste. These chemicals were released into the ocean, rivers, and even into the ground itself. As a result, many water sources today still contain waste in them. Even today, the release of pollutants into the water has increased enormously. People have started to make man-made industrial products which are even tougher to eliminate. This is mostly due to the fact that most of these pollutants now have slower degradability and a higher toxicity rate (Krautz). These water sources are used for irrigation, our drinking water, and much more. This not only harms our health, but the ecosystem as well.

70 % of our Earth surface is covered by water and almost 60% of the human body contain water for nutrient transportation. The unique characteristic of water is water molecule is the only substance in this Earth that exist in all three physical states of matter which are solid, liquid and gas. All human beings need water to survive. The national development over the years cause the rate of water pollution increased. According to Gebre & Rooijen (2009) water pollution can be considered as a sign that derives from economic growth and is a common phenomenon in urbanized cities in developing countries. In general, there are three main issues that related to water pollution which are the causes, effects and the way to decrease this problem.
