❖ The performance of the small and cottage industry sector calls for special attention because of its labour-intensive character, its focus on catering to the demand of low and medium income consumers and its capacity for import substitution. Amongst the small scale industries, production of electric apparatus, plastic toys, miscellaneous metal wears, tin plate and readymade wear has registered robust performance in recent years. To be sure, this sub sector has also been particularly vulnerable to natural disasters and other production snags compared to medium and large scale industries.

From a perilous beginning, Bangladesh has attained notable advancements in economic and social development in about four decades. Since it won its independent in 1971 following a bloody war, many, in the international community were doubtful about the country’s long-term economic sustainability. Some observers predicted a state of continuing aid dependency, while others believed if a country with such enormous and innumerable development problems as Bangladesh could make strides in development, then possibly other developing countries could as
In Bangladesh there have been many problems due to the small market and their extremely low cost. So for american companies like Walmart, H&M, Tommy Hilfiger, etc bangladesh is a goldmine because they produce quality work and at a very cost. Although with their low cost there is a high demand for their goods, which rushes the production process resulting in injury.
However, some regions in the country are now undesirable for agricultural practices leading shortage of food supply and economic implications, such as low-income. In this article, I will be discussing the following:

Small businesses are mighty minnows, reflecting the competitive spirit that a market economy needs for efficiency; they provide an outlet for entrepreneurial talents, a wider range of consumer goods and services, a check to monopoly inefficiency a source of innovation, and a seedbed for new industries; they allow an economy to be more adaptable to structural change through continuous initiatives embodying new technologies, skills, processes, or products (Ibielski 1997, p. 1).

Bangladesh is an agriculture based developing country in the world. It has many agricultural products which help to develop economy. Such as, Jute is one of the most important exporting goods which are agricultural product and Bangladesh earns a lot of foreign currency from this goods as well as this agricultural sector. From the beginning of this country, Bangladesh was dependent on agriculture sector for development. This agriculture sector has huge contribution to development of this country.in previous time, this contribute rate was higher in previous time. But now days, this rate is decreasing constantly specially from the fiscal year 2005-2006. Though the total amount of agricultural contribution is increasing but the rate of this contribution is decreasing. There have some types of causes such as manmade causes, natural causes and technological causes which are helping to reduce this agricultural growth rate. It is positive sign that the government of Bangladesh take some initiative like subsidize the farmers and other thighs to boost this rate. Sometimes these steps are working on special sectors but all over situation are not good enough.
