When thinking of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the players who come to mind are usually Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Many different opinions exist between the different generations of each player, with the older generation usually liking the Jordan era and vice versa with LeBron James. While the debate about who the greatest player of all time may never end, there are a few ways that the best can be determined; through looking at the player’s childhood to adulthood, statistics, and achievements on and off of the court, one can decide for themselves.
Just because a person is rich or poor, young or old, intelligent or not so much, does not define how

Michael Jordan, a man who is idolized for his athletic prowess, once said “I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed” (“Michael Jordan Quotes”). 2.5 million dollars is an insane amount of money, so imagine how twenty-one-year-old Jordan felt signing this deal with Nike.inc; who used this as an opportunity to launch the Air-Jordan shoe, with the iconic Jump-man logo on the side. The popularity of these shoes led people to stand in lines and even steal them from others. Jordan’s immense talent earned him over thirty million dollars per season, but his businesses earned him a large chunk of money as well. MJ became the star of the hit movie, Space Jam, and endorsed products such as McDonalds, Hanes, and Gatorade. Three years after his retirement from the NBA, Jordan became an owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, currently the Hornets, becoming the first former player to own a franchise (Dodds, Colin). MJ supports over fifteen different charity cases, and some of them being: LIVESTRONG, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Special Olympics. His good-natured attitude and morals off the court added with his immense skill on it, firmly place him as one of the best players ever (“Michael Jordan: Charity
After reading this book, you will likely believe that Jordan is the greatest basketball player to ever play in the NBA. Not only did he have in court issues but he had off court issues as well. His father died and Jordan was very distressed. But Jordan overcame this time of grief and sadness. Jordan won 6 titles.
The biggest debate in sports history. And will never be settled. Michael Jordan or Lebron James? Who’s better? Let me make that decision easier for you.
Firstly, Michael Jordan’s whole entire career was incredible. All those years of him soaring through the air slamming the basketball ball with absolute authority, and owning the rim. He took controlled of the game basketball with acrobatic drives at the rim that defy the laws of
When looking at Jordan and James’ fame, they are both equally popular, but it is how they handle the fame that sets them apart. Jordan is a class act, meaning he carries himself with honorable pride, not vanity. After Jordan signed with Nike his game only got better. He never felt as if he was too good for improvement and showed everyone great respect. James differs after he signed with Nike, his game flat-lined. He never showed any kind of improvement in his game, and his team never got any better. It seemed like he only tried when he had the ball, especially when his team was getting blown out.
Michael Jordan is arguable the best basketball player who ever played the game. A phenomenal athlete with the unique combination of fundamental soundness, grace, speed, power, artistry, and an unquenchable competitive desire, Jordan single-handedly redefined the NBA superstar. The thing that separated Jordan from the rest of the all-time greats was his compulsive need to win. Jordan was and is still known for his intense competitiveness and will to win, but that has not translated to his ownership of the Charlotte Bobcats.
Michael Jordan is considered to be the most iconic person in sports history. Since 2002, Lebron James has been compared not only to be the next Michael Jordan but also having the potential of being a better basketball player than him. Some basketball fans might agree and some might disagree, but at the end of the day everyone will have their own opinion of who is better than whom. Lebron James and Michael Jordan do have many things in common even though they play different positions in the national basketball association. They both can dominate the court with their leadership, their skills, and their strength. Surprisingly, there are just as many differences as there are similarities between the
Central Idea: LeBron James is the best basketball player by his scoring ability, his athleticism, and his world-class defense.
Stemming away from Jordan personally, it also touches on how the expansion of Nike created issues with regard to race by way of cultural and value-based analysis of black culture and effect that the Air Jordan shoe had on its people. One example of which is shown from the black on black crime that ensued as a result of the marketing of the Air Jordan in the 1990s. Significance in the arena black business is also evident. Obvious significance is shown from the growth of the business of Michael Jordan himself. It shows how a single man can amass wealth starting one-dimensionally as a person with extraordinary athletic talent and transitioning into one who takes the reigns as the leader of his own division of a transnational corporation while still working to his own and his brand's marketability. It's also subtly important to show how the Nike product also spiked the dollar seen by inner city mom and pop' athletic apparel stores, mostly black owned. Chapter 4 touches on the effect of the Air Jordan on inner cities, both good and bad, and even though there was crime and drug money involved with the sales of Air Jordans, it is still hard to ignore the increase of money that resulted as well. Lastly, LaFeber's book provides informational significance of the expansion of global capitalism in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. It not only shows how Nike became the worlds largest company in sports apparel but also how the Chicago Bulls organization increased
Air Jordan has been a huge part of the shoe game ever since they first came out in 1985. When Nike first saw Michael Jordan’s performance in college they immediately took action with him he got drafted into the NBA.. With all of his athletic ability not every game did he always play like the superstar he played like as we know him today. Yet his shoes still did sell pretty well for his first and second years playing in the NBA. As the years went by Michaels show performance got way better by averaging 30 points a game, and that’s when his shoes went crazy in selling. Everyday there were about several million pairs of Jordans selling each day. To think that Air Jordan could've never existed after Michael Jordan tried to get his agent to get him a deal with Adidas. But Nike pulled out and got Jordan to sign with them.(Elder, 2013) Nike noticed what a tremendous impact that Jordan had in the NBA. In matter of fact he played so good that Nike wanted to make him his own brand of shoes called Jordan. The first pair of shoes they made called the Air Jordan 1s weren’t selling or changing the game so they had to make a good color that opened people's eye.

Michael Jordan had a passion for Basketball. It was not something he did to fill up his spare time; it was a goal that he knew would be his channel to influence the world. When we follow our passion, we would paint the world in very bright colors. It is important to know that our passion is our DNA, which would be the channel through which we make a mark in our world. Michael Jordan’s passion still speaks because he has influenced many generations of young people in the game of Basketball.
Jordan became so famous that he created his own shoe brand. Today he is already retired and is Charlotte
In 1984, after he won the championship at North Carolina, Michael Jordan was signed to a five year endorsement deal by Nike. The contract was worth about 2.5 million dollars. A lot of people were very judgmental because of the huge endorsement given to a rookie. I am surprised as well because in this day and age, a company would never do that. However, because Michael Jordan had so much skill, he made all of the skeptical people eat their own words.
The Air Jordan by Nike is one of the most iconic sports marketing brands ever introduced and in particular one of my favorite sports brands. Michael Jordan, the founder of Air Jordan, was known for his record breaking basketball skills. He had an insane jumping ability and showed it in the 1988 NBA Dunk Contest when he soared from the foul line all the way to the basket for the slam. Some might say MJ flew the 15 feet to the basket. This ability Michael had set the brand name, Air Jordan.
Before Michael Jordan became the prophet of the basketball shoe, he was the face of the basketball court. It was 1984 and a young, fresh-faced kid from North Carolina astonished the sports world by earning both a collegiate national title and an Olympic Gold Medal (“The History”). At the same time, the fast-rising sports apparel brand, Nike, had experienced something it never had before: a quarterly loss (Rovell). The two seemed to be a perfect match; the rising star of Jordan was just what Nike needed to turn things around. Suffice to say, Nike inked Jordan to a hefty contract - five years and $2.5 million, to be exact. (“The History”). What came next was the birth of what would forever change the basketball shoe, the Air Jordan line. The first of its kind was the Air Jordan I, which was introduced in 1985 and was quickly banned by the NBA for violating its rules applying to colorful wear (“The History”). Nike, in response, used this as a medium for advertising since lot of buzz began to hover the shoe; selling for $65, the Air Jordan I was the most expensive basketball shoe on the market (“The History”). Many more versions of Air Jordans were released and, in fact, are still being released to this day. The shoes’ popularity only increased, as their name-bearer, Michael Jordan, put together one of the most impressive careers of all-time. Jordan won six championships and holds a multitude of personal records. The brand’s advertising campaign, which utilizes Jordan’s
