Introduction The healthcare policy I chose to write about is Alabama Mental Health. Mental Health is a very concerning issue in healthcare policy especially in the state of Alabama. It is ranked #2 in Alabama’s health concern. To obtain comprehensive data of the status relating to substance abuse mortality and suicide, some of my research will be gathered from the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) and other researched information. The reason I chose this topic, is to gain more knowledge about Mental Health in the state of Alabama. Currently, I work as a Vital Statistics Clerk for the State at a local hospital. Mental Health is the psychological well-being which incorporates our mental and social prosperity. It influences how we think, feel, and act. It additionally decides how we handle pressure, identify with others, and settle on decisions (Mentalhealth.gov). Psychological wellness is critical at each phase of life, from youth and pre-adulthood through adulthood. Through the span of your life, on the off chance that you encounter psychological wellness issues, your reasoning, disposition, and conduct could be influenced (Mentalhealth.gov). Numerous components add to emotional wellness issues, which includes; Family history of emotional wellness issues, Biological factors of qualities such as the mind, and Life encounters relating to injury or abuse. Help is available for people with Mental Health issues. People with mental health difficulties can become better and many recovers entirely (Mentalhealth.gov). There are many warning signs related to mental health. The survey from 2010- 2014 illustrates results of 41,000 (10.7%) adolescents who reportedly had at least one MDE episode in Alabama (samhsa.gov). Consistent with this, treatments for MDE in adolescents was not decent. The annual average for adolescents between the ages of 12-17 years from 2010-2014, resulted in 32.1% receiving treatment for depression, while 67.9% of adolescents did not receive treatment at all (samhsa.gov). Mental Health in Adults In Alabama, Mental Health in adults from age 18 and older was surveyed from 2010-2014. The individuals that was being surveyed reportedly had Serious Thoughts of Suicide (samhsa.gov). The result percentage totaled 145,000. In 2010-2011, 4.2% was reported, 2011-2012, 3.8% was reported, 2012-2013. 3.5% was reported and 2013-2014, 4.0% was reported. The percentage throughout the years 2010 to 2014 did not have any significant change
