Chris's story was heard by a man named Jon Krakauer and Chris's story was developed and published into a novel for the world to hear, which got controversial feedback. Although both seem to come from very different lifestyles and had different pursuits for adventure, both share many qualities such as home life, preparation for goals, and the willingness to let people be there for them.

Best adjective to describe Alex Honnold is brave. In D. Duane (2015), Alex Honnold climbed cliffs using climbing equipment. Through is journey, he became a free-soloist. Free soloist only uses gymnast’s chalk, short and a shirt. Not many people are brave enough to climb the tall cliffs like Alex Honnold. He conquered “most challenging climb ever” (para. 4). Alex Honnold excelled his goal by teaming with others to climb and break” speed records on the world’s greatest cliffs” (para. 4). He views his journey as an “once-in-a lifetime adventure” (para. 5). His main goal is to climb “seven El Captain routes in seven days” (para. 7). As a successful free-soloist, Alex Honnold tries to remember moves, before climbing. Free soloing is very risky.

In the book Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer, Krakauer writes about Christopher McCandless, a young man who drops everything in his life to go travel throughout the states and end up in Alaska to find the truth to his questions. But did Chris find the truth he desperately desired? Some would say that McCandless did, other would say that he has wasted his time and was being ignorant and stupid. I agree with the author, Jon Krakauer, that Christopher McCandless was not a crazy lunatic, a sociopath, or an outcast because he had made lots of friends while traveling, but there were times when Chris was incompetent, even though he managed to stay alive for quite awhile. Christopher McCandless had a pretty normal childhood.

athaniel Hawthorn’s book, The Scarlet Letter, is rife with complex and captivating characters. Throughout the book, Hawthorn displays his ability to write characters who are believable, and yet fascinating at the same time. Each of his characters posses different, unique traits, and are all intriguing in their own right. One character who stands out among the rest, is Arthur Dimmesdale. Dimmesdale is one of the main protagonists of the book, and is the tragic character of the story. He proves his tragic nature through his steady decline from upstanding Pastor to sinful hypocrite, his torturous treatment of himself, out of remorse for his sin, and by others, and his eventual overcoming of his in conflict.
