The book, Stormbreaker, by Anthony Horowitz is about a boy named Alex, whose uncle had just died in a car crash (or so they say). He finds out that his uncle was really shot by a man named Yassen Gregorovich. Alex’s uncle, Ian Rider, really worked for MI6. He was a spy that was hired by MI6 to figure out the secret behind Herod Sayle and his Stormbreaker computers that he was donating to every school in England. Ian Rider had figured out the secret, but before he could reveal it to MI6, he was shot and killed. Alex’s uncle was the only family he had left, and so it deeply affected him. MI6 decided that they were going to give Alex either the choice of becoming a spy and taking the mission his uncle

Guy Vanderhaeghe’s The Last Crossing is a Western of subtly crossed borders. Vanderhaeghe elicits a sense of blurred lines between opposites, giving the illusion that boundaries are not so statically fixed. The historical figure Jerry Potts illustrates that the division between Indigenous and white is not so easily distinguished by ways of appearances, languages, and relations. The lines of health and illness intertwine as the reader follows Addington’s syphilis, Custis’ mystery ailment, and the Indigenous peoples’ struggle with smallpox. Justice, punishment, and the law become subjective in the novel with regards to Madge’s death, Addington’s military massacre, and Indigenous resistance against unfair treatment. Distinctions between

Dave Eggers’s “Max at Sea” presents a protagonist named Max, an imaginative child who does not like his home life, who shows how society is divided into different groups and that all of us can and will fit into one of those groups. At the start of the story, the reader already gets a sense that Max has an enormous imagination and is isolated from his family. “And you need an observation tower if you’re going to spot invading armies before they breach your walls and overtake your kingdom” (1, Max at Sea). Society is divided into many groups and Max is unsure of where he belongs yet and people, “invading armies”, will try to influence you to join a group and “they breach your walls and overtake your kingdom”. Max is faced with a juxtaposition
The second law of thermodynamics states that mechanical work can be derived from a body only when that body interacts with another at a lower temperature, any spontaneous process results in an increase of entropy. In the play Arcadia, the author Tom Stoppard supports a literary explication of the second law of thermodynamics through his use of setting: times and place, stage properties, characterization, and the relationships between characters through his own unique use of time. “When you stir your rice pudding, Sepitmus, the spoonful of jam spreads itself round making red trails like the picture of a meteor in my astronomical atlas. But if you stir backward, the jam will not come together again. Indeed, the pudding

What if you lived in constant fear of being eaten alive by giant, humanoid creatures, and where forced to spend your whole life cowering behind a wall with a fleeting sense of security? To the characters in the story, Attack on Titan, that life is all too real. Attack on Titan, by Hajime Isayama, is a dark fantasy manga, or Japanese graphic novel. I actually started to read it because I watched the Tv show that was based off of the story and was curious what the manga was like. The story takes place in a world where civilization lies behind three 50 meter high concentric walls, Wall Maria, Rose, and Sina, designed to keep giants, or titans, out. Titans are bloodthirsty giants that devour people supposedly without reason. The plot mainly follows Eren Jaeger, a fifteen year old boy, his best friend Armin, and his adoptive sister, Mikasa, but as the story goes on and many more people are introduced, it shifts a bit to follow other characters as well. Eren, Armin, and Mikasa decide to join the military in the hope to regain the lands lost to the titans, and to see and explore the world outside the walls. The military is divided into three branches: The Garrison Regiment, who protect and reinforce the walls, the Scout Regiment, who's job is reconnaissance beyond the walls, and the Military Police, who keep peace within the walls. The trio chooses to join the Scouts to reclaim what humanity lost.
The advertisement consists of a lone rider in his Gold Wing Valkyrie speeding through a dark tunnel, leaving all the other drivers behind. The ad itself is a photograph, with at least four main descriptive elements: the lone driver in the Valkyrie, two more drivers in the back, the tunnel and the road. The most noticeable element is the lone driver in the Valkyrie, he can be seen on the left side of the ad using almost all of the page, well illuminated and in focus; wearing typical motorcycle gear, blue jeans, leather jacket, safety gloves and biker boots. Together with the lone driver we have Honda’s 2014 Gold Wing Valkyrie, a touring motorcycle sporting a dark red metallic color with the Honda logo prominently displayed on the left side of the bike. Two more riders can be seen on the right side of the advertisement, almost at the entrance of the tunnel, with certain distance between them and the lone rider in the Valkyrie. These riders can only be identified by their shapes and the lights of their motorcycles. The beginning of the tunnel is on the right side of the image and it can be recognized by the reflecting red light that gives a general sense of its shape and also by the lights hanging off the ceiling. It’s impossible to establish the length of the tunnel because only the entrance can be seen. The road is the last descriptive element of the photograph, it can be distinguished by the two solid yellow lines located on the right side of the image almost towards the
