I hope this letter finds in good health. Columbia University. The place where Alexander Hamilton went. Back then it was called King’s College, just a baby. The place where I want to go. It always fascinated me. A place that is aged yet so prestigious. I can’t find the words to describe why I want to go to your beautiful campus. Maybe it’s the fact that many well-known characters in our history went to your campus. Maybe it's the fact that you have many beautiful features in your college. Some include, French and Romance Philology Department, History and Literature Program, The Music Department, etc.
Alexander Hamilton has taken part in many things , he was killed in a duel because of supporting Jefferson instead of Aaron Burr . He didn’t like the “rough draft “ of the constitution so he redid some parts of it ( i’m not sure what part(s) ) . Hamilton helped with dealing with the money in all of the banks and he also was the first secretary of treasury .
More often than not, people tell me that I am a negative person, or like the famous song lyric in the new broadway hit musical, Hamilton, “I will never be satisfied.” They were right, I may never be satisfied, but to me that a characteristic to be proud of. Whatever it may be that I am working on: a song, a painting, or even an essay, it can always be better. Hamilton has changed my life by showing me how someone who came from nothing can make a huge difference just by standing up for what they believe in. Just for saying, “this is not good enough, let’s do something to make it better.”
There are many characteristics that could impact one’s life in a negative way causing them to lose everything in life such as selfishness, messiness, untrustworthiness, self-righteousness, or ego. In the award-winning musical, Hamilton: The Revolution, by Lin-Manuel-Miranda, the character of protagonist, Alexander Hamilton may be described in many ways. However, one character trait stands out among the rest. The main character trait of Alexander Hamilton, self-righteousness, shaped everything about his life: how he grew up, how he dominated in debates, and even how he fell from grace. Hamilton always stuck by his ideals, not caring whether it affected other people. These traits led him to lose and gain
The year is 1772. A young and orphaned Alexander Hamilton writes passionately about a devastating hurricane that had passed through the island he calls home. This letter would be his ticket to New York City, a chance for him to escape his melancholy island life. That first piece was the beginning of a great figure, a founding father for the United States.
The Articles of Confederation had a weak central government. Alexander Hamilton believed that the more powerful state governments would take over. In Federalist Paper 16, he states that the death of the confederacy would be the result of the lack of a large national defense. Hamilton says the government should have control over the individual as well as the states so that the government can protect the “hopes and fears” of the individuals. Government is important to the unity of its country, and Hamilton claims that no government can always avoid or control those who will be disorderly, but it would be “vain to hope to guard against events too mighty for human foresight or precaution, and it would be idle to object to a government because it
Developing a country and its principals comes with many debates, arguments, and many decisions to be made. In the end of the eighteenth century the Founding Fathers of the newly established America dealt with the difficulties of creating a country with strong political, social, and economic power. With the writing of the Articles of Confederation the country had now developed a national government, but was weak and ineffective. The top leaders of the country knew the flaws of the Articles and gathered together to rewrite the draft. When these decisions makers met in Philadelphia for the Convention the Constitution of the United States was written. This Constitution developed the foundation of the American governmental system. Along with

The argument between Federalists and Anti-Federalists might seem long gone to American citizens, but still their philosophical foundations shape the teams, scope and size of the battlefield. These philosophies go back to two lone men, Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson. Both fought aggressively for a government based on their ideas, and both did make portions of the now-standing American government. This essay will outline the political, social and economic philosophies of both men, how their philosophies influenced the government today, and a closing opinion.
Alexander Hamilton was most likely born on January 11, 1757, although the exact year of his birth is unknown. Hamilton was born on the Caribbean island of Nevis or St. Kitts to Rachel Fawcett and James Hamilton, but he spent the majority of his youth on the island of St. Croix. His formal education as a child was minimal. When his mother died in 1768, Hamilton took his
If history could rewind to when Alexander Hamilton was the treasury secretary instead of Jack Lew, the former would most definitely make the more sensible decision: to swap the Andrew Jackson adorned $20 with a prominent historical female portrait. As it is 2015, Treasury Secretary Lew -- seemingly deaf to countless proponents of doing so -- has unilaterally decided that the $10 bill (and Alexander Hamilton) be unseated.
Do you ever pay attention to the face on the ten dollar bill and think, "What did man do to earn his place on this bill?" It's common to hear the man's name, Alexander Hamilton, but what do you know about him? Alexander Hamilton was an inspiration to all who have ever encountered or heard about him. If I could go back in time and meet anyone in history, I would choose Alexander Hamilton without a single doubt. Hamilton had a hard, yet successful life. Hamilton's hardships in life started before he was a teenager when his parents divorced and the he was virtually an orphan. Though he had a rough start on life, Hamilton was determined and got employed by the age of twelve. Along with the education from his mother, Hamilton read any book he could
Easily one of the most sought after artists of this age, Lin-Manuel Miranda has made a name out of himself as a creative genius. After already writing In the Heights, Miranda’s first musical to win the Tony of Best Musical, and cowriting music for another Broadway musical, Bring it On!, he shook the world by writing the hit musical Hamilton: book, music and lyrics by Mr. Miranda, in addition to him originating the role of Alexander Hamilton. From that point on, Miranda’s career skyrocketed. Coming from humble backgrounds, Miranda uses his platform on social media to discuss topics like racial and gender inequality, as well for fighting for help for his family’s home of Puerto Rico in financial and physical distress after Hurricane Maria.
Alexander Hamilton always had a dream ever since he was a little boy to fight for his country and make a revolution happen.
Like Alexander Hamilton, I want to be brilliant and think like he did. The way he swayed the people of a forming nation was astonishing to me, and I want to do something similar to that with my art.
