Alexander the Great once said “ There is nothing impossible to him who will try”. This shows his great believe that any man that is willing to put forth effort can achieve anything that he sets out to do. The Chosen written by Chaim Potok , Mr. Malter refers to Reb Saunders in chapter 7 “Great men are always difficult to understand…..”. Many great men are hard to perceive because of the way they may interpret or judge certain things. Alexander the Great is not always hard to understand because of how he explains himself. He uses his wisdom to explain what he knows and wants people to know. Macedonian king Alexander the Great (356-323 B.C.) was born to parents King Philip II and Queen Olympia. Just 32 he died from malaria, he is regarded as one of history’s brilliant military leaders and most powerful rulers. Alexander came into power as king at only the age of 20. Alexander’s defeat of the Persian Empire removed the bloc that had prevented the spread of Greek settlements into the East. Alexander’s military genius is undeniable. I believe that Reb Saunders is greatly difficult to understand because he rarely speak. When he does speak it is only in reference to the Talmud. I find it hard to understand that anyone could very rarely speak to their child. They have many great accomplishments between the two of them. Reb Saunders lead his people from Russia because his village was getting destroyed. They are different because Alexander the Great as a mighty ruler as himself could not possibly be able to not speak as much as Reb Saunders does. Alexander was much more vocal than Reb ever was in his life. Due to Alexander being much more vocal gave him the characteristics of not being as difficult to understand as Reb always has
