This humongous building is 142 feet tall. Today still it is the largest unsuported dome in the world.In front there is a Parthenon look but in the back it is a huge dome. These two islands in the Greater Antilles of the Caribbean have architecture that is heavily influenced by the Colonial Spain cultures. Many of the structures found throughout these two countries are now still intact and visited by tourists daily. In the Caribbean, there are structures that date back to the early 1500s.

Spain has a rich history on Roman ruins. For example, the Calat Alhambra was built as a small palace but was left abandoned. In the 13th century, Muhammed ben Al-Amar rebuilt it and later in 1333 Yusuf I turned it into a royal palace. Mid-1500s came and Alhambra was abandoned again but was never destroyed. The Calat Alhambra went through the Spanish War of Independence and later ended up being “declared a national monument”.

Like most societies there are similarities and differences in religion and art; I will be discussing about three different regions. The three regions are The Eskimos, Olmec, and West Mexico. The Eskimos are well known for commonly using walrus ivory to make things out of mainly because wood is scarce at their location. The Olmec are known for creating mounds out of soil and adorned with colored clays to copy the mountains and volcanoes. Then we know have the West Mexico, which has a rich tradition of all sorts of clay sculptures that are commonly found by tombs.

Imagine being in a dense rainforest that feels like being in a city because of the thousands of animals living there, also imagine the trees around you blocking off all the sunlight. Now imagine the cool breeze of the sea hitting your face in the italian peninsula. The locations of these two describes the rise of the two greatest civilization in the world. They were know as the Aztec (located central mexico) and the Romans (located in Italy). Both empire were unique in their own way but at the same time they shared many remarkable similarities.

Rome is a critical part of historical investigation because we copy some of the ways of Rome and we are still persuaded by them. We are influenced by Romans and we copy some of their ways. We copy their architecture, government, and even their alphabet. Rome has a big impact on us. We develop our government from Rome and our architecture.

Looking back at the main building lies the main east façade with its beautiful porch leading up to the main structure. The size and exquisite decor is what takes the mind of the city view and into the past of a revival architecture. Constructed by Henry C. Trost from Trost & Trost Architects & Engineers, this building serves as a revival evoking memories from Greece and Rome. The façade itself consists of six shafts or columns which indicate the ionic part of the Corinthian style structure. The Corinthian style capitals are a piece of work; they take the viewer back in time. The Corinthian leaves and beautifully carved flowers are clearly visible as if time had no effect on the buff terra cotta. The detail is acute and precise, to the extent that beautiful is a dull word to describe the vision. The bases of the columns are like a perfect structure that hold a grand shaft that leads to beauty on top. Furthermore, each column is big, no, in fact they are huge, they are elegant in their design and seem to fit one another as they stand side by side. Above the six columns lies the architrave. The architrave is a small part of the structure but fine to the last detail, it is astonishing the level of perfection that was achieved down to the last inch of this structure. Above all this is a

Rome offered up many interesting historical structures from the ancient city that it once was. An interesting feature about Rome was that most of the modern buildings are built on top of the ancient city of Rome, with some standing on top of ancient buildings that were already up to thirty or more feet tall. With this discovery it lead them to an excavation of part of the ancient city, which they then found old farms and churches that can now be seen and walked through by tourist. Another interesting aspect about Rome was that most of the roads, sidewalks, and alleyways are made from cobblestone. Most of these cobblestone paths are as old as the ancient city itself. Walking around all day at some parts felt like a moving road with some of the cobblestones being slightly uneven. The excursion around that led to seeing the Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, and dug up ancient city of Rome had lots of historical reference and gave open thoughts to how remarkable their city must have been in ancient times. All throughout the world, there are many ancient and amazing landmarks that have left an impact of the area in which they are. The United States of America has many landmarks, like the Seattle Space Needle, that really don’t have any meaning. We also have some monuments that do have meaning like the St. Louis Arch which is signifying the gateway to the west. But neither of these monuments have nearly the amount of history within them as the ones I am going to share with you today. I am going to get a round trip to three completely different and unique areas and I am going to share what different Baroque characteristics each individual site has.
