Allegory Animal Farm

Animal Farm is an allegory novella describing and revealing what Orwell thought wrong with how Russia went from it's previous form of ideology to communism.

The book Animal Farm by George Orwell, is an allegory for the Russian Revolution. One allegory can be seen through Czar Nicholas II, who represents Mr.Jones. In Animal Farm the animals defeat and overthrow Mr.Jones, a bad farmer who mistreats his animals. The animals try to recover from the horrible reign of Mr.Jones, and the story is about how they live after overthrowing the farmer. Czar Nicholas II and Mr.Jones both struggled with their subjects and eventually were not fit to be a leader anymore so lost the right.

Animal Farm is an allegory of the Russian Revolution, it is based on certain aspects of the Revolution. For example, revolting the government, all of the animals on the farm group together to overthrow their cruel owner because they believe they are not being treated as well as they should be. When the animals come into power after overthrowing their master the pigs consider themselves to be the dictators on the farm, snowball one of the pigs starts to plan building a windmill to give power to the farm but Napoleon is not happy that snowball is leading the animals in thought, so he starts blaspheming him, the animals are agreeing for Snowballs idea but now Napoleon is outraged. Animal Farm is a written allegory story by George Orwell. The novel is about what happened during the political time of Russia; the Bolshevik Revolution and show the betrayal of Joseph Stalin. This novel shows a lot of symbolism throughout and the main one is how Napoleon and Joseph Stalin are similar.

To begin, Old Major is a very influential and integral part of the book. He is the one who instills the idea of the animals holding a revolt. On page 25 it states, “Old Major.. was so highly regarded on the farm that everybody was quite ready to lose an hour’s sleep on order to hear what he had to say”(25). This quote demonstrates how old major was a well respected and admired figure on the farm. Most of the animals on the farm were working animals, so sleep was very precious. For the animals to get up and lose an hour of sleep clearly shows that the animals wanted to hear what he had to say. An allegory is similar to symbolism but that instead of one thing standing for another meaning, the whole story stands for a greater meaning. "Animal Farm" is a great example of an allegory because every aspect of the story symbolizes something in real life and George Orwell was trying to point out something that was happening everyday. In the time "Animal Farm" was released, Russia had a lot of things going on. The people were overthrowing the traditional czarist country and leading a communist revolution, whether they knew it or not. Mr. Jones represents the czar in power before they were overthrown by a new power, the pigs. The animals represent the people, or the working class.

Author George Orwell’s animal farm is an allegory because it propounds a symbolic society of farm animals. Certain farm animals represent specific historical characters in the rise of communism taking place at that time in history, for example, “Napoleon” as Stalin, “Snowball” as Trotsky, and “Old Major” showing as a sort of amalgam for Marx and Lenin in some parts. These characters were not created by Orwell to entertain, but to mold according to preexisting people from history, aiming to teach. Orwell’s original inspiration placed the able, ardent stable of activist animals eternally on the farm: He witnessed a young boy on a cart, somewhat capriciously whipping his hardworking horse. In that moment, Orwell stated, he saw how “men exploit animals in much the same way the rich exploit the proletariat” This stands as the spectrum of Animal Farm.

George Orwell wrote Animal Farm with the intention of helping others understand the gravity of Stalin's rule. He wrote in an allegory instead of a black and white opposition to Stalin and it worked. Because of the allegorical story, it was understandable to anyone, and it was created in a simple way that shows not only the evil of the antagonist, but also how understandable it was that he got there.

In the book, the horses, sheep, pigs, cows, and other animals of Manor Farm rebels against their drunken owner. mr. Jones. With the pigs taking the lead, the animals drive all humans away from the farm, they take control of it themselves. They intend to turn the farm into a sort of paradise, where all the animals will work hard and live together in piece and equality. But soon the pigs begin to taking advantage of the situation. Old Major is the speaker of a speech he makes in the novel Animal Farm. In his speech he argued the idea that men are the enemies of the animals. Little hidden meanings, to show the negative aspect when taken too far. Some examples are: Manor Farm is allegorical of Russia, Mr Jones - the farmer, is Czar. Snowball, the pig is the intellect of the operation, the dogs in the barnyard are police squad. Boxer, the horse is your average Joe, or the working class. My take on this story's message, is in reference, to what I believe to be the most famous line in the entire story “ All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.” Basically stated, you have to be careful when you are trying to change things, otherwise you might become the thing you are trying to fight; communism in this setting, and that power manipulates for its own means.

Orwell wrote Animal Farm to be a satire to the Russian Revolution. The oldest, wisest pig on the farm, Old Major, has a dream of a rebellion against the humans. He tells the idea to his fellow comrades and starts an uprise with the animals. Once Old Major died, the animals became tired of the farmer, Mr. Jones, knot feeding them and they ran Mr. Jones and his men out of the farm.
