Imagine you walk by a classroom and you see all the students learning productively using cell phones. It’s not surprising many people think cell phones should be banned in school. Kids could use it to cheat on tests, email their friends, play games or watch videos in the middle of a lesson! Many researchers see cell phones as a teaching tool for students. If students can learn how to use cell phones and how they work, then they can reveal the intended use of cell phones. I think cell phones should be allowed in school because kids will become familiar with technology. It's easier to work on long term projects. It's also a valuable teaching and learning tool. The first reason cell phones should be allowed in school is because it’s easier to work on projects. For example, kids can upload all their work online.. This means that parents can look at what kids have done and that kids can work on projects on any device as long as the device can connect to the internet. Another example is kids can work on projects online. “This means that teachers can make annotations and grade the work, all online.”This shows teachers don’t have to grade work by hand. …show more content…
For example, video, sound recording, and bluetooth networking capabilities allowed for easy information sharing. This shows it’s easy for a smaller group of students to discuss different aspects of a particular book. In the article “Lift the cell phone ban”, it says that the video function helps record kids’ discussions, then bluetooth it to their group. “This shows that they can watch each individual discussion, without missing a moment”. This means, that cell phones can help in learning and it is a valuable teaching tool for
Although phones may be used to help students with work, North Eugene high school should ban phones because how much of a distraction they can be in a classroom. Schools that have banned phone at school, 82% of students have a phone on at school.(Document #3) If North Eugene at least has a policy with not having students bring the phones in class, that will help with test scores and participation in class. “Students with laptops had a lower test result than those without. The reason? They were not paying attention to their teachers. We should expect the same thing from cell phones.” (Document #6) When using technology at school it may help but there also needs to be an extent to where it needs to stop. Phone are not going to help with our
Some can argue that cell phone use during school is highly uncivilized but it's extremely useful in many different ways and in different scenarios.Instead of viewing cellphones and other gadgets as negative additive distractions , we should view the positive side of celluar devices. Cell phones can help resolve issues and help make the school environment much easier, however do believe there should be restrictions , for instance not to use a phone while the teacher is having a discussion or teaching lesson. If a student can obey these rules and not use it in a disrespectful manner , then there should not be any issues. Cellular phones should be allowed in schools for threatening emergencies, to avoid double standards between teachers and students and most of all to help students with research purposes.
Cell phones are distracting in school and disrupt learning. Students should always be giving their teacher their undivided attention. Cell phones in school create problems and they affect students’ grades. Although some may claim these reasons to be true, they are undeniably wrong. The proponents of cell phones should not be allowed in school argue, “We know for a fact that the use of cell phones on school property around the country has led to a number of problems around safety.” This is wrong because cell phone use on school grounds is only beneficial to individuals on and off school property. Cell phones do not necessarily prevent problems, but they do help in times of emergencies. They promote safety in situations such as school shootings or hostage situations. The proponents of cell phones should not be allowed in school also argue “Student’s whose minds wander during a lecture or discussion may find the temptation of texting instead of listening hard to resist.” While this is true, it is up to the student to pay attention. However, texting instead of listening is the same as doodling and not listening, or playing on a school issued laptop even after being told to put it away. It is up to the student to restrain from texting in class. The more schools put an emphasis on no phones in school the more
Imagine a school in which cell phones were not allowed on campus. How would the children contact their parents in the case of an emergency? Perhaps more importantly, how would this affect a child's ability to learn, and their access to knowledge? In an ever changing world most schools have adapted to use technology to their advantage. Whether this be strict times when cell phones are allowed, or more generalized rules, the schools today are able to shape these new devices in their favor. This movement, however, is looked at by some to be a terrible decision, and a hazard to children's growth in the school environment. This essay will go over the three main reasons why cell phones should be allowed and encouraged inside of the school building. The first reason why schools should allow cell phones is because parents need easy contact with their children in all situations. The second reason to allow cell phones is because they improve the learning environment and provide a digital knowledge database. The final reason to allow phones in a school setting is because they can give schools financial and educational freedom opportunities that were never possible before. Cell phones are amazing tools, and schools have all the power in the world to utilize them to their full potential.
Tap Tap, Tap. Students are constantly using cellphones in class when they should be paying attention to important materials in class. Some schools have banned cell phones. Some schools are taking advantage of cell phones and trying to them to open new possibilities for new learning experience. A cell phone is a piece of technology that can have a positive and negative effect. For example you can use it find out what you need to study. It depends on the user. Cell phones can also be used to cheat and then you wouldn’t be learning anything, except how to cheat. Do you really think that we should allow these with children that don’t know how to use them correctly? I wouldn’t. Although cell phones can open new opportunities to learning, we can not assume that students will use them for academic reasons. Therefore, cell phones are not the best thing to have in school, they shouldn't be allowed in school to ensure a good environment for the future generations of mankind. The negative effects from cell phones can distract kids from the subject they are learning in school, reduce the amount of respect students show teachers, and make schools less empathetic. The only thing that schools will get from allowing cellphones in class is nothing but trouble.
Overall, cellphones should be allowed in school for academic use because teenagers use them daily. It would work to the advantage of both the students and the teachers to incorporate cell phones with school work. Education will only continue to evolve as the years go on, and it is essential that technology is incorporated along with
Regina Jones's “Cell phones in the classroom” is an informational article that explains both sides of the issue of cell phones in the classroom. The idea of cell phones in the classroom has been debated for a long time. Jones discusses that the idea of cell phones in the classroom seems like a beneficial idea, but it has many consequences. Jones does not side with a specific opinion, but rather shows how to properly incorporate the idea given its cons. With the correct procedure, cell phones could be a valuable teaching aid to help kids learn in a contemporary way.
The school should allow the use of cell phones. The use of cell phones can help the student with their assignments and research. When students are allowed to use their phones they will have better grades. Allowing the use of cell phones to help the students’ with their work and assignments.
One reason why cell phones should not be in allowed in school is because kids cheat with their cell phones. 35% of teens admit to using cell phones to cheat while in school. Also some kids that use their cell phones in school to cheat don’t admit to it. More than half the kids admit to cheating. But cell phone now and days are a real game changer for education. Parents need to be notice about this because if the kids parents were right next to them during school I bet they wouldn’t cheat. Kids always find a way to cheat but tool now and days are a big
Cell phones should not be allowed at school because people can use them to cheat. They can text answers to each other, they can look up answers online, and they can use an online calculators. In source number two it states, “Students have been caught making calls in class and text messaging test answers to their friends.”
Should cellphones be allowed in school? Well, this is a controversial topic. There's two sides to this argument and many parents and teachers demonize cell phone usage in school, parents complaint to teachers to ban cellphones, that their kid is using his phone too much and the teachers blindly follow suit. Without even looking at the advantages of having cellphones, for the sake of their jobs they just put the ban. This punishment hurts even those who can use their phones responsibly. Why should the people who can control themselves have to be punished because their are people who can't. After doing my research I’ve come up with 3 strong reasons as to why phones should be allowed in school. Now, I already know me ranting about cell phones won't have any influence over this decision of the district, the message will just fall into deaf ears. Here we go anyway, the first reason as to why phones should be allowed is that they prepare students for a real world job. I personally think cell phones help than hinder learning, and I hope you do too, but if you don't. Hopefully this essay can change your viewpoint on this age old debate.
Many teachers believe that cell phones don’t belong in a classroom because there are several disadvantages. An example maybe a student who uses a cell phone in class has no intension in listening or paying attention to the teacher. This student has a short attention span who cares about socializing more than his/her education. Cell phones can be very disruptive; they can invade people’s privacy and can also be used as harassment or bullying. The usage of cell phones is creating a huge problem particularly when they are used in school.
Many places in society are setting policies on digital device. The principal at my school has also set policies on banning cell phones in school. Students should not be permitted to use cell phones in school. Using cell phones during school allows students to cheat. Students will be more distracted by cell phones and pay less attention to the teacher and to the lesson. Students have a higher chance of getting in trouble if they use cell phones in school rather than if they are not allowed to use digital devices in school.
The next topic of discussion is cell phones in classrooms. The article being summarized is entitled The Only Thing We Have to Fear is…120 Characters. In this article, Kevin Thomas and Christy McGee (2012) make arguments for the use of cellphones in classrooms in spite of the fact that 69% have banned them. This paper responds to the many reasons for disallowing their use, and then it goes on to highlight some ideas about why cell phones should be used as educational tools. Both sides of the discussion certainly make valid points.
Are cells phones an improvement of learning to students? Phones and/or other electronic device are things that people are overly devoted to. Students are the main ones who are reliable on their phone for information and trending topics. The reliability on phones for students is tremendous and creates ways for students to learn topics that are far from being leaned by teaching. Learning on a phone is an easy access although for some it is not when students do not have the possession of one. These devices are the main problem in school that provoke whether students should or shouldn't be allowed to use them in class. People strongly believe that phones should not be allowed in school while others presume that phones should be used. Phones
