America has always been the framework for greatness for the entire world, whether it be as a society, government, or world power. However, in recent years it would not be untruthful to state that this country’s ranking has considerably decreased in all aspects, when compared to other countries. When the truth is faced and comprehended, American citizens are forced to understand their country has drastically changed over the span of the last few years. America is no longer the economically stable force it once was, it no longer the government with a clear advantage over all other countries in world politics, and it is certainly no longer the a place where children can be securely given the best form of education in the world. In other words, our education system is strictly designed to inform America’s youth of what they deem to be necessary. The trends we see in our culture can very well be attributed to this idea and theory since we are affected through all sorts of mediums and by the messages, which they deliver. These mediums may not just only be the classroom per say, but also the technological advancements of our era, which include a wide range of computers, tablets, and televisions. Thus, we must accept the truth, we currently live in a nation were education no longer carries the great priority it once did in the regular American household. However, this cannot just be attributed to America’s advancements in technology and entertainment, but logically also to the manner in which teachers deliver content to students. It is because of this reason that education has come to lose its true purpose in this country. The principle behind the American public education system is to cultivate young men and women with the necessary tools to attain higher honors within the realm of education, such as a degree. Students no longer study and prepare for classes with the purpose of learning something valuable that may very well be applicable in different life situations. Instead, young Americans prefer to prepare and study for classes with the purpose of simply receiving the grade, which they desire for their work and efforts. Thus, how could this premise, which our educational system is constructed upon, possibly fulfill its purpose of preparing student for further studies in their lives, if learning is not occurring because that is not the underlying and prevalent motivation for every student?
