Betrayal and Love
Betrayal happens in all types of relationships. It can seem devastating to have a loved one prove disloyal, but is there is something to be learned out of the unfaithfulness of those you hold most dear. In Amor and Psyche, by Erich Neumann, betrayal comes in all forms. If these characters would look past their initial pain, like Amor, their relationships could grow because of betrayal.
The first glimpse of betrayal is what brings Amor and Psyche together. Venus, Amor’s mother, is devastated to find out

Psyche’s jealous sisters make the next betrayal. When Psyche allows her sisters into her home she has takes a risk. She must be careful not to say too much, and give away her secret. Her sisters catch on to this, and realize something is being kept from them. They become very jealous of everything Psyche has. Then, in all their bitterness, they scheme to figure out what she is hiding from them. “If I am a woman and have a spark of life in me, I’ll oust her from her fortune…let us return in our might and crush her pride”(17). Eventually, they get Psyche to believe that her husband is an ugly serpent with a thousand coils. This causes Psyche to turn the light on Amor. This type of betrayal is sisterly betrayal. It is a betrayal by those that Psyche held dear. This type of betrayal could permanently damage the relationships between the sisters, if they can overcome this betrayal it will make their relationship stronger. In deciding whether or not to forgive, Psyche must first figure out how much her sisters mean to her. The emotions and memories brought up by her thinking would make Psyche realize that her sisters are worth giving another chance. They were the ones who, in the first place, were grieving for their departed sister.
The most last betrayal happens between Amor and Psyche themselves. Amor treats Psyche very well, giving her

Veena calls the Corp men and in front of everyone, she betrays the gardener and her closest friend, Burt. Veena should have never informed the Corp because she was already being protected by the Gardeners. No harm was ever given to her when she was apart of the group. All Veena really wanted was a higher position and money. Bernice is friends with Amanda and Ren who are also main characters in the novel. Amanda becomes much more popular in the factor because of her beauty, which makes her think she is superior to others. She begins to start rumors about Bernice’s dad saying, “I know where Burt goes between five and six… he goes the same place Nuala goes...they go into the vinegar room” (Atwood 137). Bernice is heartbroken and depressed once she finds
In the novel, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, betrayal takes place in many situations and it is almost always followed by forgiveness. Some of the motives behind the betrayal in the novel include- fear, spite, temptation, pride, selfishness, and doing what is right. In C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, Lewis includes the recurring theme of betrayal and forgiveness. The first examples of betrayal are by Mr.Tumnus.
One of the risks Elisa takes is trusting the repairman, also by telling him her thoughts and feelings, and by giving him the “Chrysanthemums” plant. At the end of the story, it shows that Elisa feels sad and betrayed because. When she told the repairman about how she feels he said, “a woman can't live the life he lives.” Then he describes how it feels and she felt even worse. The second way she got betrayed was when she gave him the “Chrysanthemums plant.” Later on in the story when she was going out for dinner on the way there she sees the “Chrysanthemums” holder. She makes up excuses to make herself feel better but it did not work.

In the story of Cupid and Psyche, Psyche marries a man she has never seen in daylight, but this does not bother her, as he is very good to her. However, her sisters come and make her suspicious of who her husband may be and believe him to be a beast. Even though her husband had only asked for her loyalty to his wishes, to trust him and not try to look at his face, Psyche is unfaithful. When Cupid sees that Psyche has proven to be a disloyal wife, he leaves her. In this case Psyche was not just disloyal to her husband

The first act of betrayal was happening to the main character; Montag. Montag’s wife, Mildred never showed more interest in him than her Seashell radios. “there was a tiny dance of melody in the air, her Seashell was tamped in her ear again… why didn’t he buy himself an audio-Seashell broadcasting station and talk to his wife late at night…” (Page 42, chapter 1 The Hearth and the Salamander). On various occasions Mildred shows that she is very content with her Seashells. Instead of making real conversation with Montag, she slowly distances herself from him. Mildred would do anything for her radio people, but never anything for her husband. Furthermore, Mildred had more ways that she avoided Montag. Mildred never cared about or agreed with
Loyalty and betrayal occurs frequently in the text. Michelle is loyal to Fillipo, he is willing to break a promise he made “on my fathers head”. He realises the suffering Fillipo endures and forms a bond. He admits openly towards the end of the text that Fillipo “is a friend of mine”. Betrayal is also a prominent theme in the story. To key instances of betrayal occur, the first being Salvatore’s betrayal of Michelle. Secondly we also must view Pino’s betrayal of his family. “Never attempt to win by force what can be won by deception.” ― Niccolò Machiavelli. The term deception takes a part in betraying another for one’s self interest. It was a key element within Shakespeare’s work. Romeo and Juliet is one of the prime examples of this topic. They showed deception very clearly by hiding their actions and betraying their families, leading to their tragic ending. However, it was not the only piece Shakespeare wrote that showed the multiple consequences caused by an act of betrayal. The power of deception and the consequences that follow is a staple in literature, and no one shows this idea more clearly than Shakespeare.

Betrayal, a deception of a presumption which then produces conflict between a relationship. Friends and family members have the power to betray us any second. We view them as an extension of ourselves; someone we can confide in. Your notion about them could be completely false for the betrayal they are capable of. Betrayal could be hidden in the shadows of a relationship between you and a friend, a special bond, or even a family member. Betrayal could be found within a nonfictional or fictional novel, play, poem, movie and even picture.
Betrayal: the disloyal action that results in the ultimate feeling of hurt. For there to be betrayal, there must be trust; the breaking of trust is the ultimate way of betrayal. It spurs upon the influence of others and is provoked by the ambitious mind. To fulfill one's desires, betrayal is an action that is easy to perform. This concept is exhibited in William Shakespeare's play, Macbeth, as the implications of betrayal lead the main character, Macbeth, to his downfall. With the influence of the three evil witches, Macbeth is easily convinced about his auspicious future, causing him to overconfident himself and commit a betrayal that eventually results in one that he experiences.
