An effective teacher is one who strives for excellence every day and cares strongly about student’s education. I will be that effective teacher. I am determined to provide my students with the best education. I want my students to feel comfortable in my classroom and be willing to talk to me about anything. I believe that having a positive relationship with teachers is more valuable than most things in the classroom. When students aren’t comfortable, they aren’t interested in learning. For teachers and students, the first day of school is important. Giving my first set of directions to my class will indicate how students will react to my directions for the rest of the year. My first instruction to students will be to tell them where to …show more content…
Sometimes, child-led approach is a direct contrast to teacher directed classroom management (VanHousen 2013).
Today in classrooms, children are becoming active participants in classroom decision making process (VanHousen 2013). I want my students to have ideas and opinions in the classroom. I want to know what my student’s interests are and what they find exciting/interesting. Hopefully, with bright ideas from my students, I can teach them fun activities that they will love. The way that I set the environment in my classroom will determine how my students learn. That means my environment needs to feel inviting and comfortable.
I believe that working with families to better their child’s education is essential. When I was in school, parents would get a call home if a student did something bad rather than good. In my classroom, I want to look for positive behavior. I don’t want to be calling parents to tell them that their child is misbehaving. I would rather call them to tell them that their child has done a wonderful job. Usually, when parents get a phone call from the school, they automatically think their child is in trouble. I always need to remember to focus on the positive. I would also like to learn more about my student’s families so that I can connect better with students. When schools interact, and communicate with parents, it affects the quality of parent’s home involvement with their child’s education
Outstanding teachers posses the following skills and or attributes: The ability to adapt to any changes that may occur, The cognitive skills to think quickly and logically, The virtue of patience to handle the repeating of information for those students who may not catch on quickly and finally The passion of teaching others to be better learners and the ability to listen and analyze the emotional, physical, and mental state of the students . Truly good educators remember that the image they exude is the example that is set forth for their students. A teacher provides high expectations for the students as well as his or her self to creates a positive atmosphere.
In my personal opinion, I believe that there could be many skills and attributes that could be redeemed necessary in order for a person to be considered an outstanding teacher. Like for instance an outstanding teacher would be known for portraying diverse qualities like passion, leadership, classroom management and content knowledge. A teacher has many roles throughout the school day, therefore requires various qualities that would redeem them as an outstanding educator. Throughout the school day, outstanding teachers are known for being able to accommodate the academic, social, and emotional needs of all of their students.
Family involvement plays a major role when helping students prosper in the school setting. In order for children to be successful, as a teacher, we have to provide support to the parent’s to make an effort in wanting to play apart in that success. Communication plays a major part in the effective relationship between families and school. Giving the parents a sense of idea as to how their child is doing in school is built through the student’s academic needs.
Many schools want to incorporate a powerful and positive parent involvement community, yet face a challenge in how to implement effective strategies to involve parents in helping students reach academic achievement. I believe parents want the very best for their child, even if they do not know how to go about helping their child reach success. Students come to school with countless attributes that I may or may not acknowledge, yet parents know the many accolades about their child that I must embrace. As I build a partnership with families, we become a partnership in their child’s education. We begin to collaborate to ensure the student maximizes
Students need to feel capable of succeeding in the classroom, able to connect with their teachers and fellow classmates in positive ways, and be given the opportunity to contribute to the class and the school. Collaboration with parents is also important. Parents can be included in the development of the class code of conduct and be given the opportunity to provide their input. When conferencing with parents about a problem with their child, a teacher should discuss the intervention and encouragement strategies he or she plans to use to help the child choose better behaviors. Parents can be asked to follow these strategies at home and take a hand in improving their child’s behavior.
Outstanding teachers know their stuff! They know what they are teaching and how to teach it so that students will understand and be able to use their knowledge in multiple contexts.
I believe in order to be considered an outstanding teacher, you need to have diverse set of skills and abilities. An outstanding teacher needs to have many different qualities, because a teacher not only teaches, but serves as a role-model, mentor, and supporter. Teachers instill the love of learning in their students. Teachers need to be enthusiastic, patient, understanding, and organized. An outstanding teacher also needs to be able to work well with other, such as co-workers and administrators. Outstanding teachers need to be able to self-reflect in order to continue developing. They need to consistently develop new teaching strategies and techniques. They need to keep students engaged and enthusiastic about the subject they are teaching.
As early educators and advocates for young children, we need to be available to families in our area and play integral roles that can make a difference in their lives. Some ways that I could do that in a student’s life would be to assure that the family’s basic needs are met by striving to make a deeper connection, provide outside
Understanding the importance of a family-school partnership is essential in order for school districts and families with children to grow and strive. If an imbalance occurs within any of the various parts that play a key role, difficulties will rise to the surface. Several of these roles include: communication, decision making, volunteering, and learning and parenting at home. All of these factors must work together in order to create a successful school environment in which children are able to learn and strive. When a school is successful in fulfilling each of these roles, there are several benefits. These benefits include: better positive attitudes toward school, higher achievements, better attendance, higher graduation rates, an increase in enrollment rates in post-secondary education, and overall better schools to attend (University of West Virginia).
“Students articulate the complex characteristics of children’s families and communities and use this understanding to create respectful, reciprocal relationships that support and empower families, and to engage all families in their children’s development and learning.”
What is an effective teacher? Is it a teacher who is caring, compassionate, warming, and personable? Or is it a teacher who is good at planning, works well with other teachers/administrators, and self-disciplined? Many people would say that these qualities and characteristics would make an ideal teacher, and they would be correct. But these qualities alone are not enough to be considered an effective teacher.
Students learn best through hands on evolvement. An effective teacher will have her students actively engage in station, centers and projects. An effective teacher makes her students feel like they belong and are disciplined fairly. It is important to welcome the diversity of all students. It is important to assess students in an appropriate manner. This creates a positive learning environment for the students. I am a responsible, dependable, caring and energetic teacher who will be an asset to your school
(Bredekamp, 2009). I will show the parent that we can be in harmony in the program and with the family’s values. I need to take away the feeling that I am right and they are wrong and I need to see that neither one of us are right or wrong. I need to see that we are learning and trying to help their child to grow, learn and develop. (Bredekamp, 2009). The role of our local community is to provide a physical, emotional, and cognitive environment that helps in the development and learning of the child. We with community will build a foundation that is consistent, positive, and caring relationships with adults and children. (Bredekamp, 2009). We will build that relationship with teachers and children and families and teachers. We as community it is our responsibility to contribute to the well-being and learning of the child. I will get the child involved in the community and their families because it helps them to learn about themselves and the world around them. The community involved in my school helps children respect and be able to acknowledge their differences. I as a teacher will develop responsibility and help with self-regulation with the
Although it is important for families to be involved with their child’s school, school personnel should also strive to create a positive interaction with families of students. Carl Dunst (2002) states that school and parent collaboration is necessary, and if schools take on a more family-centered approach, it will help create a supportive environment and help to strengthen a family’s capacity to enhance and promote a child’s development and learning.
I am choosing to express my thoughts on what I believe to be the most essential qualities that an outstanding educator should embody.
