In this essay, I am going to explain to you why I am a good fit to go on this special water testing field trip. I will explain to you what careers my EDP says that I am fit for, what past experience may make me more qualified, and if I am willing to make sure that all my work is caught up from what I will miss during this special opportunity. So, I hope you take the time to read this essay and give me the opportunity to go on this field trip. First, what careers does my EDP say I might be good at? Well, my EDP has recommended me to pursue a career in dentistry and orthodontics careers. I am very interested in getting into the medical field but not as a dentist. I want to be a surgeon for sure, but maybe more of a neurosurgeon. With this career, …show more content…
Well, although I don’t have very many past experiences with water testing, I am interested in learning about this. I am especially interested because of the Flint Water Crisis that occurred. I want to know if the officials knew that the water was unsafe before putting the water into our homes and contaminating all of our pipes. So, with this water testing opportunity, I feel that it would be a great thing take advantage of and learn more about things like this that interest me. Lastly, am I willing to make up all the work that I miss during this special opportunity? Yes, I always make sure that all my work is complete and turned in on time even when days are missed. So, with that being said, I hope you know that I will make sure all my grades are caught up and work is turned in on time. In conclusion, I think that I would be a great student to take on this special opportunity field trip to the Creek and Kettering University. Going on this trip, my EDP careers would benefit from this, although I don’t have very much past experience I am ready to learn, and I will make sure that all my work is caught up. So, finally, I hope that you enjoyed this essay and really take me into consideration of being one of your eighth grade students that you take with you on the special water testing field
Write a paragraph (minimum five college-level sentences) below that summarizes what was accomplished in this iLab, what you learned by performing it, how it relates to this week’s TCOs and other course material; and just as important, how you feel it will benefit you in your academic and professional career. This year I went on a field trip to the Conodoguinet Creek. This creek runs into the Susquehanna River and drains 500 square miles of diverse landscapes. When I went on this trip, I tested how fast the water was moving downstream. I also tested the creek for the acidity and eutrophication. In the creek, we found many different types of critters. Before I went on the trip, I wrote a hypothesis. My hypothesis is… If I test the Conodoguinet Creek for signs of acid rain, eutrophication, or other types of pollution, then I will not find many phosphates and nitrates, but I will find a lot of dissolved oxygen. That is my hypothesis, and in this essay, I will be trying to prove it right.
Growing up in the city of Flint, Michigan shaped me into the person I am today. Just recently my community was faced with another crisis. Occurring just a few weeks ago was the “Flint Water Crisis”; it was and will forever be remembered as a community wide tragedy. I got the feeling that I needed to do something to help those who were victims to this. I did my best to volunteer at as many places that were giving out free fresh water, such as with the Upward Bound Program on the Mott Community College campus.
Curiosity has always driven me toward new experiences, such as attending school in Chicago to become a first- generation college student. I am thrilled to fulfill my curiosity and apply for a summer research program where I can begin preparing for my future career.
Even in my youth, I was concerned about the environment and humanity’s impact upon it. That concern developed into an ardent passion to fix or mitigate the issues we are bringing to our world. Thus my resolution to become an environmental engineer was born. However, most schools do not offer this program, and it has considerably narrowed my options. My search has led me to Rensselaer, the first college to establish an accredited Environmental Engineering program. While visiting Rensselaer, I spoke with an environmental engineer major, and she described her research and internship experiences. She specifically mentioned class lessons devoted to water quality. I have been doing research on this topic for the past two years and find it fascinating. Therefore, I was glad to see that I could use class instruction to build upon my prior knowledge. During
The field I want to go into is dentistry. This field involves the prevention and treatment of diseases and malformations to ones teeth, gums, and oral cavity, and the correction, removal, and replacement of damaged, decayed, or lost parts. This is done by means of operations such as filling and straightening teeth, crowning teeth, and constructing artificial dentures. I have always been interested in being a dentist, ever since I was young. I loved the decorated waiting rooms, the smiling dentists, and the happy leaving patients. I also like the idea of improving someone's teeth so they can find it easier to show off their smile to the world and feel more confident and happier. I don't know in detail what dentists do but I've been to see my Dentist enough to know they don't only clean your teeth.
During this internship, I will work alongside James Faczak. James is the Resource Interpretive Specialist at Cheesequake State Park, which comes with the responsibility of running the Nature Center within it. I plan to learn the different responsibilities that come with running a Nature Center, which includes learning both indigenous and invasive animal and plant species within the park, trail/water maintenance, etc. In addition, I would like to test the pH levels of the lake

The IEP project was a very informative project, especially since I teach Kindergarten and I’m used to reading IEPs rather than “writing” them. I chose to use “Derek” as the student for the IEP final project, and found a few obstacles in completing the project. First, there was not a specific diagnoses for Derek, and other information was not readily available in the student scenario. Even though this information was not provided, I feel that I learned a great deal from completing the project, because I was pushed to do more research and analyzation of the scenario. I agree with the teacher’s referral for evaluation, and Derek’s parents’ wishes for him to receive specialized services. I believe that the student will be successful, once
When Ms. Frizzle, from Magic School Bus, hit the stage, she became my role model. How exciting it would be to snap fingers and have an entire class experience traveling into an ocean or digestive system. My desire has always been to empower my students with a learning that will not be forgotten. I teach Social Studies and Science to 68 4th grade students. Over half of the students will never travel to a metropolitan area which is only 1 1/2 hours away from our community, much less other states in the United States. Even though I’m not Ms. Frizzle, I can bring trips close to my students through my experiences. Students can compare/contrast the Southwest, West, and Midwest regions of the United States. They will analyze climate, types of
My field experience has been wonderful so far for the first semester. I have gained valuable information for the last couple on months interning at my agency. For this self-evaluation I will be describing the1-3 and 6-9 competencies I set up at the beginning of the semester and see if I have achieved these skills. I will also address the growth and challenges I have come upon throughout this semester.
Had I done my practicum my first year I would not be faced with edTPA challenges, but I just have to shake it off and believe in my capabilities. Regrettably, time management seems to be my greatest challenge. You seem to be selling yourself short, just hang in there. The necessary paperwork will become more and more manageable as you master the art and learn to implement shortcuts. Kim, you are doing much better than you think, believe me. Just plow ahead and you’ll graduate as scheduled. Best of luck!
Everyone has their own special identity which makes the world all the more intriguing. So by having exceptional identities we have specialists, instructors, advisors, and roofers which make our reality what it is today. My involvement in taking the evaluations was fascinating. The test outcomes show that I am a moderate type A. As a type A we exceed expectations and rule as alphas, or hold up and plot how we can go about assimilating so as to grab that pined for part, into society, as betas a type B.
I am very thankful for getting this opportunity to be part of the internship program. I believe this internship program will help benefit me and my fellow colleagues trying to join the internship program. This will be a great opportunity for me to be ready in the future when I have a real job. This job will give me hands-on experience, learn how to balance money, and look good on a future job resume. I will also learn how to balance my time during this summer with my college work, my summer workout program (to stay in shape), and hopefully this job. Also, groundwater conversation is a very important thing we need to survive. Not most people know, but groundwater is approximately 30% of Earth’s fresh water. Groundwater is one of the most used
I decided to seek advice from my parents and they encouraged me to look into the healthcare field. I explored and researched a plethora of careers that pertained to healthcare, but the one career that intrigued me the most was the study of dentistry. The most intriguing part of this discipline was the fact that, except for flying, dentistry was very similar to being a fighter pilot. The correlation between the two careers was astonishing. The visual acumen, the ability to see beyond what is in front of you, and the precision needed in aviation were all qualities needed to perform dentistry. On top of that, I would be able to be around family and I would have a more stability in my career. So, even though I would not be flying a jet I knew I would be getting the opportunity to incorporate all the things that attracted me to aviation and use it in
