Response paper #1 Passion, skills, and money, what all do these things have in common? Well Even Brande made a wonderful correlation between these three words. He explained to us how a job could be more than a way to receive income, but it would be something you look forward to everyday, something that comes naturally to you because it fits you. He also said you could make money at the same time and I think that was a real selling point for most people. However, how is one supposed to turn passions and skills into profit and careers that feels more like living a life of purpose? More specifically, how would I take my passion for family, Wyoming and ranch life and introduce it into my skill set to create a profit and keep up with the next ten years of change in life? Well ten years may seem like a long time, but feels like only yesterday that cars did not have aux cords and people moved with their jobs. One thing I do know is that no matter how much we advance in ten years that Even Brande will still be right in all that he said and that I will still need to combine my passion, with my skills to make money and have the job that feels more like a career. A little background about where I come from and how I grew up may help to explain my passions. I grew up on a two-thousand-acre ranch outside of a small-town population only about three thousand. I learned a sense of responsibility early on in life, having started helping dad at the age of 12. Things had to be done and
Within society, there are many occupations to explore and chose. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) results showed that my personal career strengths fall under the area of teaching and counseling. Currently, as a school counselor for a high school in Duncanville, Texas, a suburb outside of Dallas, I find the results of the assessment to be very accurate. Making the decision to become a counselor is a rewarding and exciting career choice. In the world of counsling, there are many individuals who place emphasis on not just basic implications, but also on theoretical studies that usually are a part of
The career I chose to undertake as my profession is that of a mechanical engineer. Why do I want to become a mechanical engineer? Well, for starters, I would be able to design, build and possibly repair many various machines and other technologies that are complex. These technologies can range from being already in use on a global scale to new, futuristic designs that are highly technical. Also, this career includes being a sort of jack-of-all-trades, where I would possess knowledge in mathematics, physics, etc. Finally, this career offers me the chance to expand outside my immediate area since mechanical engineers are well desired around the globe as well.
“I feel sorry for the person who can't get genuinely excited about his work. Not only will he never be satisfied, but he will never achieve anything worthwhile” (Walter Chrysler). Deciding on what one wants to be in life can prove to be a demanding task. There are so many, yet limited, different opportunities in the world to have an excellent career and make a decent living while doing something one loves. It is limited because there are only a few specific career paths that someone could take to make good money. It is very difficult to make a fulfilling living being a garbage man. There are many different opportunities because, within these specific careers, there are usually various paths to take. Someone who has dreams to be a

I have always had a passion for helping individuals no matter what their situations were. Growing up, I was in the hospital at least once a year or even more due to an injury that I had acquired due to my daredevil stunts. As a child, I remember jumping off the top of my bunk bed into a jar of vaseline and splitting my eye. My stunts were very dangerous and kept me with a spot on a hospital bed at Christ Advocate Hospital. By constantly being at the hospital, it became a home to me. I would become fascinated as I waited in the waiting room seeing all of the different injuries. This fascination only led me to learn to explore further. I would spend my late nights ,when I was suppose to be sleep, staying up until 12 am watching different surgeries on YouTube. The more gruesome the surgery, the more I wanted to experience it.
Did you know there are different types of doctors in t.t reasons, for example, there are surgeons, dentist, but my favorite type of doctor is a pediatrician. “These days I live in three worlds: my dreams, and the experiences of my new life, which trigger memories from the past." Trying new jobs you don't enjoy will cause you to dream of what you’d rather be doing, and this will lead you to find a passion. The tricky part is pursuing your passion and following up on it. Putting yourself out there and taking new opportunities will expand your horizon. Finding your passion and calling takes time, it won’t happen overnight. As long as you are constantly active in what you feel is your passion; sooner or later you’ll find your calling and all it has to
What is the importance of goals? Do goals help you plan out your future? Or possibly give you something to work for? To me goals provide a map of what I want to do, how I’m going to do it, and why I want to do it. Goals also provide a sense of accomplishment when you finally get to finish whatever you’ve been working towards. The need for goals in life is clear, because without goals, we wouldn’t get much done. Simply because of the fact that there wouldn’t be anything to work towards, and no structure to our future. One of my most important goals is to graduate college, to get a career in psychology. This goal is extremely important to me because of the fact that not many people in my family have even finished high school.
Real estate is my passion because I love selling stuff so why not sell houses if I’m good at it. It’ll make me a lot of money so I can become a wealthy man. To me real estate is easy you go to people ask to sell their house and then make money off of that. Ever since I was in 1st grade I wanted to become a real estate because that’s my dream, my dream is to help people sell their houses. I want the experience to of how to sell and buy houses for my family and friends also. I read everything I can get my hands on related to real estate. I enjoy finding a home that is troubled, putting in the time and effort to gain the sweat equity and also to make it beautiful again and then renting it out for cash flow.
These stories of passion inspire me to follow my own passion. These empowering stories have shown me that if I follow my passions in life, I too can overcome the challenges I will face in following my passion. In our lifetime, so many people are concerned about finding a stable career that makes good money. Due to this, they don't follow their passions and their work is just that. However, when we follow our passions, we may face challenges. However, those challenges are worth it if we have the opportunity to be truly happy and make an

John Krumboltz once said, “You have control over your own actions and how you think about the events that impact your life. None us can control the outcomes, but your actions can increase the probability that desired outcomes will occur. There are no guarantees in life. The only guarantee is that doing nothing will get you nowhere.” (Krumboltz, 46). In this short exert from his book titled Luck is no Accident, 10 Ways to get More out of Work and Life, Krumbolz discusses the importance of making the most out of opportunities that may seem little or pointless, and that happiness doesn’t depend on any external conditions, but instead, it is governed by our mental attitude. Throughout my life, I have only had a few jobs

During my life, I never had a passion that I could stand beside and truly be proud of. Everyone around me seemed to be interested in so many things and I could not answer my own question of what I was passionate about. As high school ended, I carried a constant fear that I would never discover my purpose and the right career path. Over this past year I have finally realized that I was born with a natural interest and love for animals.
