There are a few traits listed that I admire greatly among others, and would like to think that I hold myself or am working on perfecting those traits within my being. Three main ones would be Openness, Responsibility, and Empathy. People who are open minded tend to be the ones that are responsible for our ever so evolving world, standards, morals, ethics, society, and way of life as it is. This to me automatically makes them important and special, as the world and society would not be so advanced as we are today without these type of people. I feel these individuals are not so quick to speak, judge, and hold down others. If Christopher Columbus was not so exploratory due to his open minded thinking, then perhaps we would live in a world that continued to think the earth was simply flat. I personally feel that nothing is really so simple in this life, therefore, the same way of thinking, acting, reacting, fitting, living, preserving, remedying and so forth….all of this could not …show more content…
The world could not improve if there were no people in it to see that improvements need to be made. I think the world would be a more cruel and dark place without these individuals. It is my belief that these types of people have a lot to offer and much to teach others. When I come across people such as this, it is like taking a breath of fresh air after being under water for so long; it is not so common to meet someone like this…because they preserve honesty, not just towards others, but within themselves. Many changes I have made in my life have stemmed from me taking responsibility for my actions and then making a plan to do better or something different that can provide better outcomes in the
My qualities and characteristics have always been to do the best that I can at everything,
A person’s personality is his or her essence. It is what guides decisions, emotions, and even thoughts. Some may wonder if it is possible to explore every nuance of such a complex part of a being, but there are ways to determine what type of personality a person has, and then branch off into a more detailed examination of that person specifically. Combined with other factors, such as personality disorders and the environment that someone has grown up in, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, or MBTI, test (Enrichment 1) and analysis can determine an accurate portrayal of a personality. Created in 1943 by Katherine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers, it is a system made up of four basic functions and sub functions that combine to make a personality type. The mother and daughter team constructed it off of Jung’s theories (History 2). Based on this system, one of the most common personality types in the US population is called an ESTJ, and one of the least common personality types is called an INFJ. There are many differences and similarities between these two types. An ESTJ personality, overall, is practical, fact-based, and outgoing, whereas an INFJ personality is more private and makes decisions based on feelings; however, both are organized people who make good leaders and are capable of great success in roles that involve helping others.
Nothing feels better than giving back to a place that has given so much to people. A majority of the little things that we do day by day are taken for granted or they are just seen as nothing major. In reality there are so many things that are given to us and we do not always see the little things in life as anything of mass importance. For our kindness project we decided that it was time for us to give a little to ensure someone had a smile at the end of the day. We partnered up with the Rho Nu club here on campus and together we made tie blankets. These blankets that we made will be donated to the Sacred Heart hospital in Spokane later this month. We decided to do this project in the hopes of giving a little, but making it count for a lot more. We hoped that the children receiving these blankets always get a smile on their face or simply that they just find comfort in these blankets. In this project I was the leader of the group and I did most of the organization of
Have you ever wondered what three character traits would describe you? In our own words would you describe yourself differently they your friends and family. If I had to describe myself in three ways I would say I’m athletic, intelligent, and faithful.
I can relate very well to Santa Clara University’s strategic mission, which at its core stresses the importance of a positive character. Having studied in a Catholic high school, I learned that a positive character is essential to succeeding in life. Knowledge, love, and financial independence will reveal themselves to individuals with the right character traits. From that, I believe that SCU will provide me not only the knowledge to succeed in the world but also the character traits needed to make the world a better
As I have grown older and have gone outside of my comfort zone, I have met people with different perspectives and beliefs, some which I disagree with and others that have changed my views. Having an open-mind consist of setting aside one's previous opinions and beliefs in order to better understand others. In my own personal experience, having an open mind to people and experiences alike have enriched my life. In the time I have been at the University of Oklahoma I have had to practice open-mindedness, while I have learned about perspectives and experiences different from my own.
Open mindedness is an important key to success in life. It takes practice, time, energy and patience to master this skill. But, it is more than worth the effort. Our world is vast and while I can’t promise much I can guarantee you that you will meet more than one person during your lifetime that will not share your religious beliefs, values, political views, etc.
I have always been one to be careful and watch what I do and what others do, I am a firm believe that one can only learn from their mistakes, but if I have seen others make mistakes as well I am very good at judging the bad, and learning that I do not need to make their mistake as well. Another attribute in which I think that I have fully developed would be that of sagacity, which is keeping a good understanding of human nature, thoughtfulness, fairness, good listening, etc. I have to say I am a great listener, and I am always taking in consideration of others. I have to say that sometimes I think that I put people ahead of myself. Expeditious, I have good abilities with as well. I think that I retain and learn new information pretty easy from experience, like I had said I like to learn from my mistakes and from others. I have the willpower in which it takes to want to make a change about how I did something in order to make it improved.
Service is a big part of my life, whether it is as little as holding the door for someone, to helping out with a big service project. It is a duty and gift that someone with the privilege like me has. There are two groups that I have been involved with in my senior year that I do a great deal of service, Youth Ministry at my church, and the Boy Scouts of America. In Youth Ministry we touch our community in a variety of ways, from gardening to getting parts of meals together to send to people that are in need of food, or we go visit the elderly and play board games, the list goes on. In Boy Scouts we have big service days run by people outside the troop or you have an eagle scout doing a whole project by themselves aided by the other scouts.
Self-awareness and self-leadership. I understand what I say and do can affect other people, along with way people look at me. I strongly believe in treating everyone the way that I want to be treated. My belief is that I never want anyone to see me on the side of the road in need of help and not wanting to stop to help me, because of who I am.
What it means to be open minded is that one willing to consider new ideas; unprejudiced, but that’s not exactly what it means for everyone. That definition Is over all correct but for me there is more to it than being open minded all of the time sometimes I am very open minded, but other times I’m so close minded that I’m not willing to listen to other people’s ideas or opinions. When I do listen to others I learn a lot of new thing and this has helped me in many ways.
>She admits she's a "monster" and then the 99.999999% of her shpeel is how much a threat they are to her child, her child's "innocence", and her acting Ike Turner reborn. That bitch is insufferable.
Open-mindedness is a concept that appears to be a big importance of what kind of person you are. How people conceive open mindedness allows one to see the amazingness of the world similar looking out an open window on an ocean view. Or it can be a double edge sword. It is confident to say that not all things in the world are peaceful and beautiful. The level of open-mindedness can be similar to an open wound continuously being infected. This is the negative effects of open-mindedness. What does it truly mean to be open-minded?
Another characteristic of my personality is care. Despite my ever-present introversion, I have always harbored a deep care for most people. Early in my childhood, my parents taught the importance of caring for others. Throughout my life, I have always put others before myself. Sometimes I do this out of genuine care for the other party, but other times, I find myself doing this so the other
The first trait that I will discuss is my appearance. I believe that the way that I look is due to nature. I am
