Being Together is Enough In “October Tale,” Neil Gaiman is trying to portray an old Genie who would ordinarily grant three wishes to whoever rubs the lamp, but rather than granting wishes, forms a vital bond with a woman named Hazel who already has everything she needs. Love is vital because it develops on the determination you have when finding the right one that feels the same way you do. Firstly the Genie and Hazel both mentioned how everything didn’t turn out to be a perfect or normal life, how life isn’t perfect and it has sharp turns. “I told Hazel about my youth as a djinn”(107), and the “Bad days of the Djinn wars”(107).
