In sustainability: The New Holy Grail, Miller argues that people who question the United States ability to become more sustainable devalue American innovation. The arguments made throughout his article however seem one sided and aggressive. Millers out view on things are from a religious outlook making his points seem unreliable.
Miller begins by telling us that the world thinks our nations lifestyles are unsustainable. Then he goes on to say “We are told these things by members of the party that have been pretty much in charge for the past fifty plus years.” (135). Yet he doesn’t provide any evidence to support his findings, no actual names of said party members or references, making his statement less reliable. There is no doubt Miller is a proud American but perhaps too proud making his opinion bias.
Without trying to take away from Millers intelligence, we can also note that his opinion is from a very right side view. To extend on my analysis Miller proves my point by statements made throughout his article. Such as his entire third paragraph where he essentially says, that progress should not …show more content…

That we the people have become sheep to their system. He believes that anyone who doesn’t believe in the original American standard of stainability, devalues American innovation. The more Miller tries to back up his statements the weaker his evidence gets. Not only does his article turn from biases to insults, but he starts to generalize the lower class Americans. His point of view towards the end seems to come from a very republican higher political class, making his article appear bias and ignorant. Although he is right about we the people having the ultimate power, he loses me when religion is brought into the article as it comes to an end.
