In the movie Invincible, Mark Wahlberg plays the role as Vince Papale, and his dream is to be able to play for the Philadelphia Eagles. Vince works as a 30 year old substitute teacher who gets fired as the movie goes on due to budget cuts. Not only has he lost his job, but he losses his wife also because she said he would never amount to anything and asks for a divorce soon after. Vince was also a bartender at the time. While Vince was bartending, the Philadelphia Eagles new head coach Dick Vermiel announces open tryouts for the team and all of Vince’s friends try to convince him to attend. After Vince listens to all of his friends, who are all rabid Eagles fans, encourage him to try out, the message his wife left him and his father saying he could not do it, he finally has enough motivation to go. Out of everyone, Vince was the most surprised as he makes it past the first cuts at training camp. As he passes many of the cuts in practices, it looks like he will actually make the team and becomes an icon of hope for his friends, family and a lot of Eagles fans. When the very last cuts were due, coach Vermiel called for Vince to go and see him. Vince was convinced that he was going to be cut because the receiver he was competing against was a little better than he was. Vince’s attitude, intensity and character won the day with Vermiel who welcomed him to the Philadelphia Eagles. This movie can relate to quite a few people for many reasons.
