Analysis Of The Movie Invincible

The movie Napoleon Dynamite directed by Jared Hess and released June 11, 2004 is a comedy about an awkward teen that has trouble fitting in. Napoleon (Jon Heder) the main character, lives with his grandma until she gets into an accident and his life is immediately made worse when his uncle Rico (Jon Gries) who is stuck in his high school football “superstar” days knocks on their door and is there to keep an eye on Napoleon while his grandma is getting hospitalized. Napoleon has a red afro, wears moon boots, and is constantly practicing his atrocious ninja moves. Napoleon has a best friend in high school names Pedro (Efren Ramirez) who decides to run for class president, and it is up to Napoleon to step out of his comfort zone to help Pedro win, and get his information out around school. Napoleon Dynamite was excellent because it met the criteria of humor, acting, and the profound message.

This movie gives us a perfect example of how a conflict was not handled effectively because assumptions were made, the character jumped to conclusion, due to this the issue became worse than it should have been. The communication dynamics in this was always done through someone else therefore one person would get upset, because he misunderstood the person that was giving him information.

The Defiant Ones (1958) directed by Stanley Kramer showed the racial relations going on in the United States of America. The film features two men, one black and one white becoming friends, which was almost unheard of at the time. Although when this film came out segregation was illegal it still was not fully accepted as being the new norm. This film starts to try to shape America into accepting all races and stopping segregation, but also tries to mirror society when a third party is brought in and tries to come between the two men and their friendship. Kramer uses The Defiant Ones as a way to mirror the public of the times opinion and shape there new opinion of the changing world.

This movie is trying to symbolize what goes on in the world today in regards to racism and stereotypes. He tries to make a point on how societies view themselves and others in the world based on there ethnicities. This movie intertwines several different people's lives, all different races, with different types of beliefs. All throughout the movie you can see Rudy’s determination to do his best. This is not only showed in his classes and on the practice field but also when he tells the others not to lighten up because he was only trying to help them win their next game. As much as the players were tired of hearing about how much they needed to work as hard as Rudy from their coaches, he showed them what it looked like to be fully committed. They practiced hard together and at every practice Rudy would get hit hard into the ground multiple times, but he always managed to get back up and keep playing. The movie, The Hammer, tells the story of a Deaf boy, Matt Hamill, who grows up to become the first Deaf wrestler to win the NCAA Wrestling Championship and accomplishes this three years in a row. The movie is an inspiring true story of what Matt Hamill experiences throughout his childhood and adolescence as a Deaf person living in a hearing world. Furthermore, the film gives the hearing culture an idea of what it is like to be Deaf and the trials and tribulations that some Deaf people face.

The degree of connection between all of the characters in the movie is so coincidental and interrelated to emphasize the point that we do not always know what is going on with everyone else we may encounter. “Iron Road” has successfully shown why Chinese workers came to Canada in the 1880s as well as the challenges they confronted. Most of the film’s storyline occurs in China, where it uses the point of view of a Chinese peasant called Little Tiger, to display the daily struggles of the Chinese. The setting is full of war and destruction, thus destroying many farms resulting in famine and poverty. This has resulted in peasants having insufficient funds to support themselves and making them live in unsanitary living spaces. As a result, this gave the workers more reason to move to Canada as there was also better income and resources there. However, once they arrived in Canada, they discover that the conditions there weren’t as good as they thought. Although they had a better income than they did in China, there was a lot of discrimination, dangerous working conditions and horrible living spaces. There was worse pay for the Chinese workers and they had to do the most life-threatening jobs like working with explosives as well as working on the side of a cliff with no harnesses. Throughout the film, “Iron Road” has used the setting, characters and point of view of a Chinese peasant to show that there were horrible conditions and chaos in China, as well as the racism, dangerous working conditions and poor living space the peasants faced in Canada.

The performances in this film make you feel like these characters, even though they have no redeeming social qualities at all. It is hard to not feel a certain amount of sympathy for the main characters as they go from the victimizers to the victims.
